Publisher's summary

Alex Cross was a rising star in the Washington, D.C., Police Department when an unknown man gunned down his wife in front of him. But his desire for vengeance was placed on hold as he raised his children himself.

The most terrifying Cross ever....
Years later, Alex leaves the FBI to work as a full-time psychologist. His life finally feels like it's in order...until Cross's former partner, John Sampson, gives him a chilling phone call. Sampson is tracking a Georgetown serial rapist whose brutal modus operandi includes threatening his victims with terrifying photos. Now Cross and Sampson need the help of the rape victims to stop the predator, but the women refuse to talk.

The most emotional Cross ever....
When the case triggers a connection to his wife's death, Alex may finally have a chance to catch the killer. Is this a chance for justice at long last? Or the culminating scene in his own deadly obsession?

From the man USA Today has called the "master of the genre", Cross is the high-velocity thriller James Patterson's fans have waited years for.

Are they all like this?

I've never read James Patterson before, but I thought I would give this a try. I found it very light and simple. I was hoping for much more. 3/5 at best.

cross

Book was good. A little gruesome. I would not recommend this book for children. We enjoyed it on a long trip.

great book

to listen and read... overall well done on Patterson's part. Alex Cross is no joke although I'd be willing to bet Jack Reacher or John Puller would give him a run.

Good Book

I enjoyed the book. Well written as always, ending somewhat predictable, but still enjoyable.

I thought the Wolf was bad.

The Butcher makes the Wolf look like a nice guy.
Spell binding, great.

All in one...

Would you listen to Cross again? Why?

I have revisited all of the Alex Cross books I have. Great stories and I tend to miss the characters if I haven't visited in a while.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cross?

I really love the flashbacks to his life with Maria. Their life together has only been talked about briefly in all the books but this takes it a bit further by delving into Alex's feelings and emotions and how they relate to the current situation.

What does Peter J. Fernandez and Jay O. Sanders bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think with all the details and the mounting multitude of plots both past and present, it would be hard to miss the build up. The tension as it gets closer to the edge. You can really feel it in the characters voices mood. The build is good, but the finale is amazing.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There is a feeling of relief as some of his family issues get solved. You feel good for Alex as his life now has a few less tangles.

Any additional comments?

Reading these books in order, this one breathes new life into the series and revives some of the danger and suspense. Better than the last two in the series put together.
