Publisher's summary

Alex Cross was a rising star in the Washington, D.C., Police Department when an unknown man gunned down his wife in front of him. But his desire for vengeance was placed on hold as he raised his children himself.

The most terrifying Cross ever....
Years later, Alex leaves the FBI to work as a full-time psychologist. His life finally feels like it's in order...until Cross's former partner, John Sampson, gives him a chilling phone call. Sampson is tracking a Georgetown serial rapist whose brutal modus operandi includes threatening his victims with terrifying photos. Now Cross and Sampson need the help of the rape victims to stop the predator, but the women refuse to talk.

The most emotional Cross ever....
When the case triggers a connection to his wife's death, Alex may finally have a chance to catch the killer. Is this a chance for justice at long last? Or the culminating scene in his own deadly obsession?

From the man USA Today has called the "master of the genre", Cross is the high-velocity thriller James Patterson's fans have waited years for.

Loved It

To each his own I suppose. This was my first Alex Cross book. If this is bad (as others indicate) I can't wait to listen to others. I found the book to be well written and the story line as believable as most other crime novels. The ending could have a bit more suspense, but I liked it the same. Narration was one of the best I have heard so far. This best seller is worth the investment and time. Cheers!

"Cross" by James Patterson

Whereas many readers might like this book, in my opinion it seems to depend too much on really horrible, gratuitous violence throughout. The ending reads weak; perhaps even the author is exhausted by then!

One of the best!

I had read Patterson's Cross novels from the beginning, but had stopped a few hears ago. I read the blurb on this one on the Audible site, and thought I'd give it a try again.

As usual, it was an excellent book, with excellent voice talent that really let's you 'live' inside the characters for a few hours a day.

Pros: Well written, fast paced, incredible voice talent(s), good quality audio...

Cons: Not many. The story is not as tight as a usual Cross novel, but I think that that is more the nature of this book than the writer.

Entertaining yet irritating

I enjoy the Cross stories. I like Peter J. Fernandez as narrator/performer.

I have been irritated by the inaccuracies re: Cross as either a psychologist or a forensic psychologist. Um....forensic psychology is a specialized sub discipline. Based on the descriptions, Cross is not a forensic psychologist. He may be a psychologist, but not a) ethical or b) clear on his role. In this book, Cross is acting as a therapist and violates the confidentiality of one of his clients by beating up her abusive cop boyfriend in front of other cops, while referencing how the boyfriend abused her, which information he got from the client.

Well, we already know Cross has "identity issues." Sigh. I hope in future books Mr. Patterson gets his facts straight.

Love Alex Cross

Would you consider the audio edition of Cross to be better than the print version?

I've never read the print, but love the audio.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cross?

Lots of great scenes, including the creepy step by step of the killer stalking victims, scene outside Blues Alley in Georgetown, and the final scene at the awards ceremony.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, i couldn't wait to get back in the car to listen.

Any additional comments?

I have now listened to three Alex Cross stories and love them all.

Excellent and Intriguing

These Alex Cross stories never disappoint. This one kept me guessing and kept my attention. Each villain seems more savage and evil than the prior villains. Alex Cross is able to piece together the clues. His partner John Sampson is also a great character . An excellent read.

Cross

Very grisly but a good story! Alex Cross gets the bad guy again with his loyal buddy Samson by his side! Love the family life he lives.
