Publisher's summary

Two standalone novels from the queen of mystery, Agatha Christie. From the sprawling Leonide family to dark moors, no one can spin a mystery quite like she can.

Crooked House

The Leonides are one big happy family living in a sprawling, ramshackle mansion. That is until the head of the household, Aristide, is murdered with a fatal barbiturate injection.

Suspicion naturally falls on the old man’s young widow, 50 years his junior. But the murderer has reckoned without the tenacity of Charles Hayward, fiancé of the late millionaire’s granddaughter.

Endless Night

Strapped by a chauffeur's wages, Michael Rogers' want of a better life seems out of reach. Especially elusive is a magnificent piece of property in Kingston Bishop - unil a chance meeting with a beautiful heiress makes his dreams possible. Marrying her is the first step. Building the perfect home is the next.

Unfortunately, Michael ignored the local warnings about the deadly curse buried in the tract of land, and living out his dreams may exact a higher price than he ever imagined. Praised as one of Agatha Christie's most unusual forays into gothic, psychological suspense, this novel of fate, chance, and the nature of evil was a personal favorite of the author's as well.

Great plot!

This is a different book compared to her other writings, most enjoyable. The narrator did a fantastic job bringing the main characters alive.

High Fraser 👍

Excellent stories and wonderful Hugh Fraser as narrator of Agatha Christie . Chose most of audiobooks because of his voice. After him found R E Grant enjoyable to listen to some of her stories,

2 very different novels, but both good

Crooked House was a terrific story, and I liked it far better than Endless Night, but both were good. Crooked House seemed to have more energy and engaging characters, but Endless Night had more mystery and sense of foreboding. Both were good, and this was well worth the time.

Stand alone Christy Stories

Not part of a series these two are different forms of Christy. I'm pretty sure that Miss Marple tv show used the second story "Endless Night" though as I recalled much of it but missing the sweet old pussy. I would have preferred it as a Marple where justice comes about in a way that makes sense. How did the doctor and police even end up at Gipsy Acres? They were just suddenly there. I know being written first person it made sense to be vaguely to how this character saw things, but as a reader it left me dissatisfied. I also don't understand what made the killer have a mental breakdown when so obviously killing had been so natural and easy starting at such a young age. (trying not to use a spoiler or give away the who) one thing I notice Christy uses often is this idea that killers have a mental defect where it's not their fault because of that. It seems rather too much of an excuse used too often. A way to soften the evil in some people? At any rate this was not one of my favorite Christy novels.
Crooked house was very well written and kept me guessing to the end. I enjoyed this one and it gets 5 stars from me where Endless Night gets One and a half. so 3 stars for both. I can easily recommend Crooked House but am dissatisfied with Endless night so have a harder time recommending it

Christie surprised me with her endings! Great reader too! Enjoy them both at your own pace.

Wonderfully creepy

Nobody does twisted nor greed like Dame Agatha. Fantastic performances by Hugh Fraser. Wonderful treatment of all the characters by Mr. Fraser, but the twisted thinking is fine work by the author .

Not your typical Agatha Christie book

These stories were darker than most of the novels I've read by Agatha Christie. Still well written but not my cup of tea.
