No knowledge of police procedure

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

So-So. Interesting life scenarios with protagonists, but they seem to be so gullible, and author has no clue of what real police procedures are. It kept me listening but pounding my head against the wall as I did. For example, one character has long flowing blond hair while in uniform. Duh. No PD allows any female officer to wear their hair long while in uniform. It's dangerous and can get caught on anything while in pursuit, or a bad guy can grab it. Puts the officer's life in jeopardy as well as partners.

Would you ever listen to anything by Deborah J Ledford again?

Maybe, just because story line is interesting with situations between the protagonists.
Good twist a little bit into the book.

Have you listened to any of Christina Cox’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. Performance was fine.

Was Crescendo worth the listening time?

So-So

Any additional comments?

Author made law officers so gullible. HUH? Come on, they are the most skeptical people on earth, and for good reason (and they should be.) They do not blindly trust people (especially bad guys.)

How many mistakes can one policewoman make?!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Research and comman sense. Nothing will ruin a book for me more quickly than watching the main charactor make illogical choices inconsistent with the situation. This woman was supposed to be an exceptional officer, you can't have her acting like a a 15 year old in situations that she should have been trained for. I just hate reading about a strong woman protagonist who acts like a simpering fool.

Has Crescendo turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but it will be the last Deborah Ledford book I read.

Which scene was your favorite?

Can't think of one.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Crescendo?

The absolute worst was when the psychotic killer comes after our heroine and she refuses to kill him. Huh? where did that one come from!

mmm - not good

I found this very disappointing and hope this Anthony award-nominated author improves on her next outing.
