The number one New York Times best-selling author's latest stand-alone thriller, with a cameo by her fan-favorite character, Boston Detective D.D. Warren
My name is Nicky Frank. Except, most likely, it isn't.
Nicole Frank shouldn't have been able to survive the car accident, much less crawl up the steep ravine. Not in the dark, not in the rain, not with her injuries. But one thought allows her to defy the odds and flag down help: Vero.
I'm looking for a little girl. I have to save her. Except, most likely, she doesn't exist.
Sergeant Wyatt Foster is frustrated when even the search dogs can't find any trace of the mysterious missing child. Until Nicky's husband, Thomas, arrives with a host of shattering revelations: Nicole Frank suffers from a rare brain injury and the police shouldn't trust anything she says.
My husband claims he'll do anything to save me. Except, most likely, he can't.
Who is Nicky Frank, and what happened the night her car sailed off the road? Was it a random accident or something more sinister given the woman's lack of family and no close friends? The deeper Wyatt digs, the more concerned he becomes. Because it turns out, in the past few months, Nicky has suffered from more than one close accident. In fact, it would appear someone very much wants her dead.

Not like most of Lisa Gardner's stuff. Story was all over the place and narration was not great. Don't waste your credit!
I have enjoyed many of Lisa Gardner's books and pre-ordered this one. It was a chore to get through it. The male narrator was over the top and the characters not very likable. I did manage to listen to the whole thing but just felt disappointed in having wasted my time. There are so many other good books out there, this one isn't worth a credit.
Seldom do I write reviews as each reader has their own criteria for enjoying a book or not. However, this book was so bad, written with the same 4 lines over and over, that if I can save just one person from wasting a credit it will be worth it. The plot was slow, too many characters angry who never slept and an ending about as exciting as the dirt talked about incessantly in this story. The book has a proper name. It crashed as as a novel and could just be burned.
Didn't like a single character. Writing was repetitive and boring (if I hear "Vero wants to fly" one more time I'm gonna scream!). Voices/narration was annoying. Story started out great but went downhill fast. I usually love this author but this was eye roll-inducing.
I have read or listened to all of Lisa Gardner's books, this is not like any of the others.
Don't waste your credit.
I wanted to like this book. I really did!
The characters were confusing and unlikeable. The plot didn't hold my interest. The female narrator was all right but the male narrator sounded like the narrator to a 1970s film strip. I kept waiting for the book to get better but three hours into it I'm giving up because listening has become a chore.
The biggest twist is that Lisa Gardner wrote this. She is usually an automatic purchase for me but this book was a mistake. How is it possible that the creator of the wonderful D. D. Warren is responsible for this book? I'm so disappointed, I'll be more careful of "Not D. D." books in the future.
This was a difficult listen from the very beginning.....the reviews were great so I kept listening.....convoluted story line.....relationship between Vero and Nicki confusing ....new characters kept entering the story line, they only added to the confusion.......the relationship and interaction between Thomas (Nicki's husband) and Nicki unbelivable......
Not able to listen to the end...............
