Publisher's summary

At a Mexican roadblock, a U.S. Embassy SUV is stopped at gunpoint, three of its passengers murdered, and a fourth kidnapped. Everything points to the drug cartels, especially when the kidnappers say they will return the hostage if a cartel kingpin is released from U.S. federal prison.

But when word gets to Charley Castillo and his group of “retired” spies and special operators, they have their doubts. Fresh from having enraged the Kremlin by staging a covert raid in Venezuela that nabbed not only high-value Russian agents but also a highly prized secret Russian aircraft, they start connecting the dots. They believe that it’s a diversion. That the murders and kidnapping were ordered by none other than Vladimir Putin himself to lure Castillo and company to their deaths. And the thing of it is, even knowing that may not save them. Powerful forces in the U.S. government are arrayed against them as well, and if one side doesn’t get them... the other side will.

Filled with Griffin’s trademark rich characters and cutting-edge drama, this is another exceptional novel in an exceptional series.

Prolong the suspense: listen to another Presidential Agent thriller.

Frequent Listener

Well, I was glad to hear that Mr. Hill was back on board with this novel, however I'm afraid even his talents couldn't save it. Yes, I still liked the characters and the banter, however the story line was weak and didn't draw me in like the first books did. This one seemed like an afterthought and didn't bring much to a conclusion. In addition, the events in this book seemed unplausable, yes I know it is fiction, but normally Mr. Griffin weaves a lot more detail that is based in fact to the story. This book, especially the quick departure of the ex-president and the lunacy of the new president did not make for a believable story in my eyes, fiction or not.

Hope there is another book, take a little more time Mr. Griffin and weave a better tale that closes out the story lines on all the characters, this one didn't do it for me.

Psycho POTUS

Geez! Whacko president and our hero dodges the bullet once again. You gotta wonder if the author created a president from a combination of W Bush and Lyndon Johnson....mostly the latter. Paranoid, controlling and micromanaging. On to the last and newest book in the series.

Disappointedly rush to conclude the book.

I have enjoyed many WEB Griffin’s books in the past. This book had all the ingredients to continue the saga. It however was very rushed to wrap things up, not the usual way the author did things.

Story is not fully developed - kind of abridged??

Would you try another book from W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth and/or Dick Hill?

Yes.

If you’ve listened to books by W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth before, how does this one compare?

This is book 7 - the people and their characters are developed. This story is kind of half baked. Not quite done. Book is ~13hrs long and should have been 25+ to take this to the level it should have been.

Which scene was your favorite?

None... None of the story line is as complete as it should be. Dick Hill done his usual great job with the telling of the story, it's just not complete.

Covert Warriors

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story was not up to the intrigue and the wit of previous Griffin Books. I have read them all. The reader was not on his game or past his prime. I am a grandfather and it sounded like My Grandfather was reading the story. Regional Accents were not authentic. However, the bad guys in the story were not revealed until the end. I was not sure who to

A great book read by the best performer Dick Hill.

Would you listen to Covert Warriors again? Why?

Entertaining anr masterfully performed.

What did you like best about this story?

Storyline is "believable" and keeps you wanting more. The "mad" president is masterfully performed by Dick Hill.

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have listened too many readers/performers, but Dick Hill makes every book he reads better and more entertaining than anyone else.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Presential "marbles".

Main character has become annoying

Charlie was always arrogant but now the author decides to turn him into an arrogant, abusive a-hole. Enjoyed Presidential series up to this point. Not sure I will continue.

another disappointment in the castillo series

this book is also not up too the first five books in this series. the only way i see this series going forward is to get a new president that brings back charlie and company to do what they do. the first five books were excellent reads and it is a shame to see the series go to pot as it has in the last two titles. it is as if griffin lost interest and it shows. too bad. had a good thing going. very few authors can change major charactors and make it work, and in my opinion web just didn't pull it off
