really enjoyed listening to last 4 books

Really enjoyed listening to Lou Diamond Phillips read these last 4 books. While MarkGreaney is a pretty good writer, this isn't Tom Clancy. Still not bad but made better with excellent narration.

Mark Greaney Has learned from the master!

Lou Diamond Phillips is a FANTASTIC reader! even better than his acting WOW! he brings the story to life!

Mark Greaney has become every bit as good as Clancy was. (See the Gray Man books to prove it)

Great job, I look forward to more from this story line with Greaney writing to the standards of Clancy!

Jack Ryan, "The Past, The Present and the Danger"

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This story helps define the past for Jack Ryan, Sr. and connect him to the present as his son carries on the family spy business.

What did you like best about this story?

Clancy can describe a terrorist attack or a combat scene with intensity and masterful detail that will have you sitting alone in the dark just to finish the chapter.

What about Lou Diamond Phillips’s performance did you like?

Phillips can convey any accent or any inflection and jump from one eccentric character to another to make you believe that the story is played out by a room full of actors. His reading is intense and captivating.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"You thought the Russians were coming, but it's worse, it's John Clark and Jack Ryan, Jr."

Any additional comments?

Clancy answers so many questions about Jack Ryan as each chapter jumps from present day to 30 years earlier. The book is filled with so many story threads that shift from the 1980's when Jack Ryan was beginning as a CIA analyst stationed in London to Jack, Jr on his own in present day London and criss-crossing Europe to uncover the connection between wealthy money managers and Russian goons plotting to over-run their former Soviet comrades. The result is intense, fascinating, and filled with enough combat action and intrigue to serve as the deserving cap to an amazing story telling career for the late Mr. Clancy.

Not his best but not his worst either.

I love TC novels and have enjoyed them since Red October when I was in HS. It is fun to see familiar characters in new novels. You can jump in with old friends and follow along without much introduction. Later in TC's life, when he started putting his name on other authors works, the quality slipped some. This book falls in that category. I enjoyed it because all my friends were back but it was not his best work. It was masterfully read by Mr. Phillips. His character voices were entertaining and distinguishable. If you are a fan of Jack, Ding, and Mr C., get this book. If you are new to TC, read Red October and move in sequence through the novels. You wont be disappointed.
