Publisher's summary

Murder is not a spectator sport.

Chuck Chandler has choked on more than one occasion - first as a pro tennis player at Wimbledon, then as a womanizing coach at posh tennis clubs around the country. Now at Key West's Old Racquet Club, Chuck gets involved with the wrong married woman - the enticing Clare Carras, married to an enigmatic older man - and soon he is in way over his head.

Enter Tommy Sculley, a retired New York homicide detective who has just joined the Key West force, and his young, green partner, Daryl Haynes, who turns out to be smarter than he looks. Up to their necks in an investigation of a bizarre apparent homicide, the two detectives barely keep afloat in murky waters. Events take them from the Florida Keys to Los Angeles and back as a plot emerges that involves not only the dangerous Clare but a furious West Coast mob boss determined to get back what is his at any cost.

Not for me : two stars ..

For a Stuart Woods' diehard this is a book with all the ingredients that make S Woods appealing : a story filled with sex and suspense and a great storyline. A more skeptical reader will note that the plot has holes and lacks at times credibility and the characters are superficially sketched out in a black and white mode...This book is not for me : while i indeed appreciate great storylines with suspense & sex, i do need plots with more structure and attention to detail and characters that are fully sculpted and can really attract and engage me.

LOVED it!

My second Woods book. I was disappointed with the (very appropriate but unsatisfying) ending of LA Times--after loving the book up to that point--so I gave him "one more chance."

So glad I did! Not only was this book as gripping, but it had a truly satisfying ending and I LOVE Tony Roberts' narration. He is so wonderfully suited to the male characters particularly.

Will move on to a third Stuart Woods stand-alone and hope for a great ending!

Great story

This is a well written fast moving easy listen! The characters are simple and i like the morality of
the bad guy loosing.. Its also nice to have simple shoot ups not gory with a bit of humor throughout 🙂
