She meets Alex Pierce, an ex-cop turned crime writer, who regards her as a woman, not as a heart patient. "Keeps you guessing to the very end."

Many books you can figure out the killer in the very beginning but this book had many twist and turns that were very unexpected. Loved it.

    "Narrator spoiled this"
    What disappointed you about Charade?

The narrator was a woman and her variations of voices for the different characters was awful

What was most disappointing about Sandra Brown’s story?

For what I listened to the story jumped around so much that I would not know what they were talking about or who the characters were.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Natalie Ross?

    A man.

    Any additional comments?

just that I couldn't listen to the book so was very disappointed

    "Romance, not mystery"

This book would have been better categorized under romance, rather than mystery. I am so disappointed to have spent money on a book I do not want to even finish. I am more than half way through and can't believe I have listened to this much. This is the first book I have written a negative review for. I don't read mysteries for frequent sex scenes and teenagey romance.

    "Not my favorite SB book"

For the most part, it was a good listen, but I found myself having trouble warming up to the main female character. I liked the male lead, which saved the book. The 'bad guy' was pretty easy to discern, and it was almost laughable at the end that Cat never suspected him. I think the narrator did a nice job.

I kept thinking I knew who it was and then a new surprise twist would be introduced. Didn't know for sure til the end! Great book

"Mystery it is not. Crass sex scenes, & lame drama"
What would have made Charade better?

I still don't connect the name with the story. I would have liked a lot less crude dialogue and and sick of the throbbing man hood that seemed to come up often(pun intended) If I wanted a romance I would have purchased one.

What could Sandra Brown have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Develop characters, loose the smut sex talk and make the relationships more believable and less superficial.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It had an interesting story line, It was pretty predictable but it did have you wondering till the end.

    "Not enjoyable"

I didn't enjoy this book at all. I stopped listening to it about 4 hours into it. I didn't enjoy the story line. I never could really get into it to where I even cared what happened to any of them. The male lead Alex wasn't desirable at all. I thought the Texas accents were ridiculous. I have read other Sandra Brown books in the past and I don't remember the language being so bad. I just didn't enjoy this book at all

Story line was great, in predictable. However,I did not like the female voice performing the male voices. It was annoying.

This book started very slowly in my opinion and it quickly lost my attention. I decided to give it another try a few months later & was hooked after I made it passed the first few chapters.

Great book. It taught me a lot about organ, especially heart, transplants. Very suspenseful! If fan of Sandra Brown another of her masterpieces.

    "Completely ruined by the ending"
What did you like best about Charade? What did you like least?

The narration was brilliant - the best ever. Really brought the book to life. This was a great story totally destroyed, for me, by the final chapters

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I was irritated at the ending. The whole romance and plot was ruined for me. Difficult to say why without spoiling the plot. I think the Hero was fixated with his dead love obsessively and never got over her. His reasons for going after the heroine, and the way he did it - which was only really revealed in the last chapters, was just icky. And the neat tidying up of the "who got whose heart" storyline, by inserting another character in the final pages was just silly and an insult to the reader who had spent the entire book trying to figure out the puzzle.

Was Charade worth the listening time?

I really enjoyed listening to this book - until the final chapters. But the ending leaves a bitter taste and I will happily delete from my library.

    Any additional comments?

I actually initially filled out my rating for this book at 4 stars for the story and overall (I almost never give 5 stars). This was because I was almost at the end and was enjoying it so much. Then I finished those final chapters and downgraded to one star - I was so angry at the way it ended!
