What did you like best about this story?

I love the fact that this story includes all my favorite characters. It has Nadine; Feeney; Peabody; Mavis; Trena and of course Roarke and Eve. The story also introduces Jamie who is in several other books - and he's a kid with a great mind and an iron will.

This story shows Dallas in many aspects - the woman; the wife; the human; the friend - and of course - the cop. She's a simply fabulous character that I never tire of hearing!

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?

Well always Eve... but she does a simply fabulous job at all the characters - I always get a big charge out of hearing her do the exchanges between Treena and Eve... always a winner!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

My favorite moment in this one was the exchange between Feeney; Dallas - and later Roarke. Where Feeney is 'done with her' because she obeyed orders rather than coming to him as a friend. Then later when Roarke explained what Feeney really means to Dallas. That whole part is one of my absolute favorite in this book.

    "Loved It!"

I can not get enough of this story! This one had me on the edge of my seat at the end, could not take my headphones off! I do wish the book went a few chapters more though, wrapped up some loose ends. Like, what happened to the white witches? What about Jamie? Etc..

"One of the Best of "In Death""

In a series I enjoy so much, it's difficult for one book to stand out above others. But Ceremony In Death, Book 5 of the In Death series, certainly stands out. Maybe it's the involvement of the opposing forces of Wiccans and their ceremonies, and Satanists and their black magic, which certainly give a twist, and a hint of danger, to the plot. Or maybe it's the other aspect of this series that I love so much -- the character development. In any case, it's one of my favorite entries in one of my favorite series.

This series has me hooked and coming back for more a bit more often than my pocketbook would like. That says a lot, since I have already read the entire series to date in print. These books are great to revisit -- if you've already read the whole series, a reread or listen enables you to fit pieces into the overall picture of Dallas's life and career that you might have forgotten or missed. Perhaps best of all is the opportunity to review the additions to the growing cast of regular characters in her world.

And just let me say that Susan Ericksen does an exceptional job of narration in this series, with great voices and characters. I must admit that I was at first put off by the voice chosen for Peabody, but it has grown on me, and it adds dimension to Peabody's frequent ironic statements.

    Loved it!

    "My favorite one yet!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I do constantly! I recommend this series to most of my friends. We all like the cop shows on TV and this series reminds me of Law and Order or something.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

YES. I love the incorporation of Wicca. Very good plot in this one.

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?

II love them all! I cant pick just one favorite, but her narration of the men, Rourke particularly, is very impressive. I plan on getting all of the books!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I listen to them at work so it makes me excited to go back to work the next morning to see what happens!

    "Ceremony in Death"

This story is one of the most interesting of the 'In Death' series. Witch craft is also a good story plot of murder mystery books. The white and the dark side of the witch craft is shown in this book. Roarke shows that he believes in some of what the witches are saying. Dallas shows that she does not believe in anything so out there as witch craft. The story takes lots of twits and turns that you are not expecting. It make a great quick story to lessen too. Or at lest it seems to go by quickly because the story draws you in and you will not wont to stop lessening. Susan Ericksen does a great job with the narration in this book, adds to the reasons why you just can't stop lessening to the book.

    "JD at her best"

It always amazes me the research that goes into a book - even though this is way in the future, the crimes and relationships and procedures are "real" you don't feel like you are being fed nonsense.

Peebody is a character all by herself and her voice (thank you Susan!) just suits her so well - I find myself wishing her all the best and pushing her to achieve.

Summerset - the best. Mavis, totally a character on her own.

Eve and Roarke - have to continue reading - need to find out what happens - the suspence is killing me!

Excellent story and well performed, but I thought Dallas was too hard-nosed/snarky in this book. Her treatment of Peabody and other characters was just too rude and over the line.

    "The One with the Witches"

One of the earlier "In Death" books, Eve Dallas meets up with a nasty bunch of devil worshipers who are responsible for the death of an older police officer and his granddaughter. Of course Eve takes this personally, and the satanists don't stand a chance in you-know-where.

There are good witches (Eve gets a Celtic protection talisman) and bad witches (Eve is attacked with poison fingernails) in this tale, which is a good fast read and sets the mood for Samhain celebrations (aka Halloween).

"Not my favorite in the series"
Where does Ceremony in Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book probably ranks 3 stars compared to all the other audiobooks in this series and 4-5 compared to any other audio book. I love Susan Erickson.

If you’ve listened to books by J. D. Robb before, how does this one compare?

I'm not a big fan of this storyline, OR Eves actions and behavior in this book. In all honesty she frustrates the hell out of me in this book. She is so bigheaded and stubborn.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Jamie tries to break into the house.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I kept having to turn it off because Eve was peeving me off.

    Any additional comments?

I have read this book, and listened to it on audio once already. I am currently making my way through the series again on audio and have to admit this is not one of my favorite in the series. Eve has always been very single minded and focused. But it bothers me in this book (and others as well, but particularly in this book) how she thinks she knows who the murderer is and just hammers at them. She has no regard to how her actions will affect the people she is hammering, they are innocent of all crimes but she beats them until they are broken because she wants it to be them. The way she goes after Chaz makes me want to smack the hell out of her. The way she snaps at Peabody for having an opinion makes me want to slap the hell out of her. And in all honestly has made me distrust the police in general. Because I know this is how “real” police officers are. They get their teeth into something and refuse to admit that they may be wrong. Instead of trying to find the truth objectively, they try to find the truth to support their opinions. Even though in each book Eve finds her man she manages to screw up other people’s lives in the process, and she just doesn’t care. She makes a comment in the book that she “isn’t a good person” and in some areas she is right, she isn’t. BUT with all the frustrations her actions bring me in this book I’m still addicted. LOL

    "Brilliant brilliant series of books"
What did you like most about Ceremony in Death: In Death, Book 5?

It was so suspenseful and I actually figured out who the bad guys were but the way it was played was exciting.

What other book might you compare Ceremony in Death: In Death, Book 5 to, and why?

No other books come close to these. Never have I enjoyed a series of books and charactes as much as I am enjoying these. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favourite?

Eve and Roarke are always my favourites. They are both exceptionally strong characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes when Eve tricked Roarke into thinking he had to sing with Mavis and then she said she loved him. It was so sweet.

    Any additional comments?

These books are costing me a fortune but I have to have them. Such amazing writing of characters and the narrator is just brilliant. I have just downloaded book 5 and I am looking forward to my commute to work in the morning now.
