Publisher's summary

From the number-one New York Times best-selling master of suspense comes a fast-paced, emotion-packed novel about guilt, grief, and our capacity to forgive.

Seventeen-year-old Haley McWaid is a good girl, the pride of her suburban New Jersey family, captain of the lacrosse team, headed off to college next year with all the hopes and dreams her doting parents can pin on her. Which is why, when her mother wakes one morning to find that Haley never came home the night before, and three months quickly pass without word from the girl, the community assumes the worst.

Wendy Tynes is a reporter on a mission, to identify and bring down sexual predators via elaborate and nationally televised sting operations. Working with local police on her news program Caught in the Act, Wendy and her team have publicly shamed dozens of men by the time she encounters her latest target. Dan Mercer is a social worker known as a friend to troubled teens, but his story soon becomes more complicated than Wendy could have imagined.

In a novel that challenges as much as it thrills, filled with the astonishing tension and unseen suburban machinations that have become Coben's trademark, Caught tells the story of a missing girl, the community stunned by her loss, the predator who may have taken her, and the reporter who suddenly realizes she can't trust her own instincts about this story - or the motives of the people around her.

Ok read.

Really did not like the narration on this one. Unsure how they decide on male vs female. Usually it is right. This one may have been picked wrong.

Story was interesting but in the end I did not really like it.

Kept us entertained

My husband and I listened to this book on our cross country drive from AZ to FL. Never a dull moment which was just what we needed!

Great stand alone for Coben

Coben fans will enjoy another of his twisty mysteries. This is not a Myron Bolitar novel but it does feature a few crossover scenes with Win and brief mentions of other Cobenverse regulars.

For non Coben fans it's a quick read/listen mystery filled with twists and turns and unique characters. It's a good listen.

Fantastic

I am a new member and didn't know where to begin. Something appealed to me about this book and I just decided to get it. I am so glad I did. This was a captivating book. So many different angles. It kept my attention beginning until end. The narrator was phenomenal. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend it.

Narrator Could Be Better

I enjoyed the storyline with is twists and turns but the narrator's inflection made her sound insensitive and pompous.

Wonderful book, terrible narrator

I don't usually comment on the narators because being visually challenged, I appreciate all the wonderful people that narrate the books so people like me can still enjoy "reading". But, in this case I felt cheated. The book is narrated by 2 people, not just Carrington MacDuffie. The other narrator, a woman, seemed unable to accurately convey the correct emotions. I found myself rolling my eyes in frustration when she made what should have been a scene fraught with tension between the main protaganist, a journalist, and the sister of the man the journalist had revealed to be a pediphile. Instead it sounded like a tame conversation between two strangers!

I admit I love Scott Brick and had grown used to his narrating most of Mr. Coben's books, but I also like Carrington MacDuffie, and thought I was in for a real treat.

One of the best things about Harlan Coben's books is the sly humor he instills into his work. The female narrator was not able to convey this, so instead the book ended up sounding stilted and corny.

Good story ruined...

Ok Story. Ok Narration.

Narrator ok except one voice sounds like Patty and Selma from Simpsons. Another like Bobby from King of the Hill. Very distracting.

You truly won't guess the ending until the last minute

I normally can predict where these are heading before they get to the finish. I am thrilled to say I had no clue on the ending off this book. It's fantastic from story to execution. Check this one out for sure.

Always a Thriller for Coben

Would you consider the audio edition of Caught to be better than the print version?

Don't know

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This story was very intriguing because I did not expect the twists and turns of the plots as the story unfolded. It was very sad -and it could actually happen. If we knew more of the stories of missing teens, I think we would be horrified at what they may have had to endure. It is just so hard to believe...

Any additional comments?

I also enjoy his books
