Publisher's summary

From the number-one New York Times best-selling master of suspense comes a fast-paced, emotion-packed novel about guilt, grief, and our capacity to forgive.

Seventeen-year-old Haley McWaid is a good girl, the pride of her suburban New Jersey family, captain of the lacrosse team, headed off to college next year with all the hopes and dreams her doting parents can pin on her. Which is why, when her mother wakes one morning to find that Haley never came home the night before, and three months quickly pass without word from the girl, the community assumes the worst.

Wendy Tynes is a reporter on a mission, to identify and bring down sexual predators via elaborate and nationally televised sting operations. Working with local police on her news program Caught in the Act, Wendy and her team have publicly shamed dozens of men by the time she encounters her latest target. Dan Mercer is a social worker known as a friend to troubled teens, but his story soon becomes more complicated than Wendy could have imagined.

In a novel that challenges as much as it thrills, filled with the astonishing tension and unseen suburban machinations that have become Coben's trademark, Caught tells the story of a missing girl, the community stunned by her loss, the predator who may have taken her, and the reporter who suddenly realizes she can't trust her own instincts about this story - or the motives of the people around her.

Another winner

Loved this book. I am never disappointed in Harlan Coben. His writing catches everything and all his characters are interconnected.

One of Coben's best!

This one twists and turns and keeps you guessing. Is he guilty? Was he framed? You're never sure until the end. Great listen!

Not as bad as all that...

Sheesh. What's with all the rotten reviews? Sure the narration was, well, terrible. But that can be overlooked. With the Ipod or Iphone you can speed the audio up and horrible narration becomes bearable. Well, almost. (The narrator's interpretation of the wannabe rapper in the story would be irritating at any speed). Luckily, the strength of this story overcomes the bad narration. Great novel. Harlan Coben is back on his horse with this un. He's had his ups and downs with his stand-alone departures from the Bolitar series. Stephen King once said that a good story could be written on a grocery sack and it would still be a good story. I suppose you could apply that theory here. The terrible narration is like the grocery sack. A crude delivery device for a fantastic yarn. Enjoy!

not a good Flare Hickory!

Would you consider the audio edition of Caught to be better than the print version?

I prefer to listen to suspense rather than read it. I enjoyed most of these narrators characters, but this woman does a TERRIBLE Flare Hickory! Instead of sounding like a witty flamboyant attorney she makes him sound like a hoarse chain smoking Bronx grandma!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes the plot was good and kept me guessing but there were a few choppy parts where I felt like the characters came to conclusions or had information without any material to support the leap for the listener.

What three words best describe Carrington MacDuffie and Danny Campbell ’s performance?

No Flare Hickory!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, unfortunately I couldn't.

Any additional comments?

I love listening to Harlan Coban books but I hope he doesn't use this woman to do Flare again. Try the guy or Scott Brick again or the guy who read from The Woods was excellent!

Another Coben Thriller

Harlan Coben has to be one of my favorite authors. I loved this book and especially enjoyed hearing some of the familiar names from the latest of the Myron Bolitar series (especially in the ending). "Caught" had me thinking I had solved the crime numerous times...but each time it sent me in another direction. I disagree with previous reviews that criticized the narration. I listen to audio books weekly as I travel and found McDuffie's narration as Wendy Tynes to be quite good; however, I did think the voice of Dan Mercer was somewhat irritating but it was not a major part of the narration. If you like fast moving mysteries and like Harlan Coben, you cannot go wrong with "Caught".

Bless Carrington MacDuffie's heart!

This could be a good book. I'm not quite sure. As many said, the narration is soooo bad it is making me feel like I'm listening to Nora Roberts, not Harlan Coben. If Frank Mueller (I know he's deceased) had narrated this book, it would have been a completely different experience.

Bless her heart, her voices for the males are ridiculous making them seem very cliche (or is it the book)? I felt like her voice as the lead character was okay but now, even that is getting annoying. I can finish it. I can't stand to waste a credit (although I have). However, I can't wait for this to end.

The door that changes everything.

The story was fast paced, that kept you guessing. Wendy just wants the truth.

Dont buy it

This is the most boring book Coben has written. The lackluster plot… the terrible performance . Everyone sounds alike. I wonder if he really wrote it.
