Publisher's summary

Detective D. D. Warren has four days to stop a killer in this “shocking…‘must read’”* from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Gardner—one of Library Journal's Best Thrillers of the Year.

Charlene Grant believes she is going to die. For the past few years, her childhood friends have been murdered one by one. Same day. Same time. Now she’s the last of her friends alive, and she’s counting down the final four days of her life until January 21st.

Charlene doesn’t plan on going down without a fight. She has taken up boxing, shooting, and running. She also wants Boston’s top homicide detective, D. D. Warren, to handle the investigation.

But as D. D. delves deeper into the case, she starts to question the woman’s story. Instinct tells her that Charlene may not be in any danger at all. If that’s true, the woman must have a secret—one so terrifying that it alone could be the greatest threat of all.

Nice twist

Would you listen to Catch Me again? Why?

Interesting story, but a really nice twist at the end.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Wouldn't say it kept me on the edge of my seat, but did keep me interested.

SO-SO not that good

What did you like best about Catch Me? What did you like least?

The dual personality of the police officer and the main character. The history of her parents were spotty

What could Lisa Gardner have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Less police technical jargon

Keeps you guessing

What made the experience of listening to Catch Me the most enjoyable?

Facts of the story were fed to you in a way that you always feel on the verge of piecing it all together, but never quite do until the end. Great listen!

Excellent crime thriller.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this novel. It kept me guessing and unsure what was going on, who the killer was, and who was in on it right up until the climax. It was hard to put down because I wanted to figure it all out and, of course, find out what was going to happen to Charlie.

I did have trouble keeping some of the voices straight, especially the female characters. At times they seemed to blend together and it was by what they were saying or the vocabulary they used that I was able to figure out who was speaking.

Catch My Breath

If you could sum up Catch Me in three words, what would they be?

Find My Killer

Would you recommend Catch Me to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, it was a pretty good book. My 3rd by this author.

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

Kristen was pretty good. I would listen to her again.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Well, this is listed as a Detective D.D. Warren book and she is touted as this great detective, but Charlene pretty much solved most of this herself. She was the heroine and the protagnonist.

Any additional comments?

I did enjoy the twist and turns and did like being surprised about the antagonist. Was a good story.

An Unbelieveble End

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This is a classic case of a complex plot which cannot be sustained to a credible ending. The story was always interesting, and brought together interesting and current themes such as child abuse, Münchausen syndrome by proxy, paedophilia in younger adults and memory loss in children as a defence against abuse. This contained within a fast moving and well developed set of plotting.Yet the ending was so unrealistic and unbelievable, my enjoyment of the whole book was in the end tainted by cringing for the last hour or so.

Would you ever listen to anything by Lisa Gardner again?

I have listened to four or five of Lisa Garner's books. Whilst she has pushed the barrier of credibility before, I have always been able to accept the ending. This one I have not. I will try others, but I will be reluctant to do so without having read the reviews carefully.

What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

An excellent reader who kept the story moving forward. I doubt I would have read the story to the end had I been reading the book.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Not a chance

Somewhat predictable

Not a whole bunch of surprise twists or turns in this thriller. It turned out pretty much like most listeners will predict. I thought it interesting that Gardner used the first person for a character other than the continuing character in the series. Not sure if I've seen that style used before. Maybe it worked but it certainly didn't build a following for the D.D. Warren character, a law enforcement officer who also allowed a suspected murderer to go free. Far from a perfect book but a solid three stars.

It was ok...

Maybe I'm listening to too many books in a row but the story line is just getting really drawn out and redundant. I found myself, well my husband found me saying "ok let's wrap it up" to the book a couple times! Overall though, it's good, not a waste of a credit especially if you like to read the entire series which I do.
