Please don't abridge!

Ms. George is an excellent writer but to abridge her work is a disservice to her and the reader. Her character development is so good when its cut short you really don't get the full depth of their personality and it is quite confusing particularly to a new reader. Having read all of her books I was familiar with the regular characters. She is one author that a should not be abridged.

Superb!

A great mystery in the style of the original Lynley novels. A lot of characters, tons of suspects, and a plot that keeps you guessing. George weaves her stories through all sorts of people, and doesn't go soft on issues that we may find heart wrenching! Convincing and enjoyable from the start!

Curl up and enjoy

The story is so rich with landscape details and human emotions that your imagination visualizes the story like a made-for-tv movie. At least to those of us that have followed the PBS episodes. You may want to keep track of the characters; they are many, with different stories that don't get entwined until a couple of hours into the story. With winter coming, this is a wonderful audiobook to curl up to in your favorite chair, hot cocoa in hand and fly off to the British Isle's cold, wet and windy beach.

Careless in Red

This book is very well read -- I cannot fault Mr Keating's performance, especially his rendering of numerous characters, some in the Cornish accent others in standard London or south country. I think my problem with the book is that the number of characters and the complexity of their interactions makes the plot hard to follow. Elizabeth George is probably better as a paper book (I have enjoyed many of her Lynley mysteries) than an e-book.

Great setting and engaging story

this author reminds me of PD James, and that is the highest complement I can pay to any author.

another great story

Elizabeth George's ability to make you feel you are right there with Inspector Lynley and his Sgt continues in this story line. The reader 's voices for each of the character's was right on. This is a series that I look forward to reading.

I am not sure who would enjoy this book. The characters were not only uninteresting but nearly unlikable.

I did become interested in the trail system in Britain. I can imagine that would be a great place to sort oneself out.

Boring story about boring people

If this is a mystery thriller then Bambi is a murder mystery.
