Not as epic as I expected

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

If you are looking for epic Amazon fight scenes this is NOT the book for you. I was expecting fierce female warriors to be fighting each other for control over land and the male population. But this was not the case. I would have added much more action to much village life and not enough war life.

What does Alyssa Bresnahan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is able to paint amazing picture with just her voice. I was truly able to see this strange futuristic time.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment.... not what i was expecting. But not an awful book. It was well written.

Well done Ms. King

Out of her comfort zone I think, but well done. A story that captures your imagination and makes you wonder, "what if?" Hardest part to read is about the dogs, but Laurie King always puts a bit of and edge in her novels. Glad I read it.

A world of strong women and fragile men

Speculative fiction about a world where men have become fragile and rare, and women run the world out of necessity. It's a bit sprawling, but it's a good read. The dogs might well be the best part of it in some ways. It covers the complexity of the male/female spectrum, in some interesting concepts. Not a great book, but a good read.
