Publisher's summary

"Ralph Cosham’s excellent narration of Louise Penny’s newest mystery demonstrates why a terrific narrator is an author’s best partner." —AudioFile Magazine

Bury Your Dead is a novel about life and death—and all the mystery that remains—from #1 New York Times bestselling author Louise Penny

Chief Inspector Armand Gamache is on break from duty in Three Pines to attend the famed Winter Carnival up north. He has arrived in this beautiful, freezing city not to join the revels but to recover from an investigation gone hauntingly wrong. Still, violent death is inescapable—even here, in the apparent sanctuary of the Literary and Historical Society, where one obsessive academic’s quest for answers will lead Gamache down a dark path . . .

Meanwhile, Gamache is receiving disturbing news from his hometown village. Beloved bistro owner Olivier was recently convicted of murder but everyone—including Gamache—believes that he is innocent. Who is behind this sinister plot? Now it’s up to Gamache to solve this killer case . . . and relive a terrible event from his own past before he can begin to bury his dead.

“Few writers in any genre can match Penny’s ability to combine heartbreak and hope.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

Critic reviews

“Ralph Cosham's excellent narration of Louise Penny's newest mystery demonstrates why a terrific narrator is an author's best partner…My only quibble is that the Penny-Cosham team kept me listening past my bedtime.” —AudioFile magazine

“This sixth entry in Agatha and Anthony award-winning author Penny's Armand Gamache series is among the best…The solution to both killings as well as the event that drew Gamache to Quebec in the first place are all slowly and expertly revealed.” —Library Journal

Love Louise Perry

Wonderful dialog. Good old fashioned mystery. Great characters. I went back and listened again as it was a joy to do so. Perfect narrator for the story

Phenomenal character development

I’ve enjoyed all the books in the series, but this was the best so far. Louise Penny has continued to develop the characters and setting of Three Pines, but this builds on all prior progress to show the true nature of many of the primary characters. Bravo!

Of course, the mysteries provides a vehicle to accomplish this and Quebec a continued backdrop of cultural diversity, natural beauty, and rich history! My only complaint is I can’t visit Three Pines for a meal at the bistro!

Looking forward to the rest of the series to see how the characters continue to mature. Many thanks for the superb narration to a well developed book! Merci!

Better

They just keep getting better and better. Weaving three different stories and all these amazing characters together with such precision is amazing. The characters are so well done.

Debating if you want to do another “Three Pines?” Don’t miss this one.

Chilling and different look at Gamache and his vulnerabilities. Wasn’t initially sure if another book in series would be a stretch but perfection connection without any effort.

Great!!

three great story lines woven together. Perhaps my favorite on this series so far. Powerful thoughts on belonging, looking down on "them", and grudges.

Amazing twists and turns and history lessons too!

This is my second time to read this book as I have become totally enthralled by all of her books and keep finding things I missed or did not remember. Bury your Dead has several storylines that twist and turn and eventually are resolved as well as previously told stories that are explained as well. I find the Canadian history woven throughout extremely interesting. Louise Penny is an expert story teller who makes you feel as though you know the characters personally!

Kinda confusing

Love Ms Louise, but for the first time I had a hard time following the 3 intertwined story lines. Would have read easier with a defined break or chapter change so you knew who you are hearing about

Brilliant and memorable

I loved this book, both reading and listening to how Louise Penny, through her great characters -- especially Armand Gamache -- wrestle with the facts of death and loss. Never have I read a more compelling presentation of how our experiences -- including our fear -- of death shape our lives.

Reading entire series for 2nd time

This series is so captivating, so well written and performed that I'm reading/listening my way through it again. The characters are all so well developed that I've thought about them even months after I finished the series. Please continue writing.
