Publisher's summary

Detective Michael Bennett finally returns to New York City - and to the most unsettling, horrific case of his career.

At last, Detective Michael Bennett and his family are coming home to New York City. Thanks to Bennett, the ruthless crime lord whose vengeful mission forced the Bennett family into hiding has been brought down for good.

Back in the city that never sleeps, Bennett takes over a chaotic Outreach Squad in Harlem, where he receives an unusual call: a man claims to have seen a group of well-dressed men holding a bizarre party in a condemend building. With no clear crime or evidence, Bennett dismisses the report. But when a charred body is found in that very same building, he is forced to take the demented caller seriously - and is drawn into an underground criminal world of terrifying depravity.

Michael Bennet thrills but story is choppy!

Would you try another book from James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge and/or Danny Mastrogiorgio?

Yes! Patterson is one of my favorites and kudos to his 'co-writers". Win-win situation. After listening to Burn, I looked for Michael Ledwidge. What a terrific voice!!!! It's strong, not too dramatic, great pace.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Was there an ending? It felt like a chapter ending. I believe it was anti-climatic

What does Danny Mastrogiorgio bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He makes all the Burn characters come to life. Great voice!

Do you think Burn needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I'm sure it will be a monet maker, but the Patterson/co-writer situations are getting a wee-bit old.

Any additional comments?

I had to go back and confirm that I did not download an abridged version. There were complete stories and conversations that were left out of the story. I do love the narrator, but it might be a more satisfying (and cheaper) read.

Really good read. Found myself up at 2:00 in the morning, not wanting to wait to get to the end.

Lousy ending, very disappointed, interesting story

Great narrator, I enjoyed listening but was profoundly disappointed with the ending. I probably will try another book but I'm wary.

Was the editor on his tail to get the book out?

The book was scattered with different storylines. And the ending appeared to be cut off. I was shocked when I realized it was the actual ending...he could've wrapped it up better.
