Publisher's summary

After a recent brush with death, plus-sized P.I. and bride-to-be Savannah Reid has decided to stop sweating the small stuff. But when an event planner comes in to arrange her wedding, Savannah discovers that murder can ruin even the best laid plans.

Hailed as the wedding planner to the stars, Madeline Aberson has orchestrated some of the most exclusive soirees in Hollywood. But when Madeline becomes embroiled in a nasty divorce, her life falls apart, and rumors swirl that her parties have become total duds. Desperate for work, Madeline finds herself planning far less glamorous affairs, including none other than Savannah Reid's wedding to Dirk Coulter. It doesn't take long for the opinionated Madeline to get on Savannah's last nerve, and when the big day finally arrives, Savannah can't wait to send Madeline packing. But when the bride finds Madeline's body face down in the pool, floating among an elegant array of rose petals, it's clear that someone has already hastened the diva's departure. For better or for worse Savannah and Dirk put their wedding on hold, vowing instead to find out who killed Madeline and why. . .

Happy Ending

So happy this ended on a positive note for the heroine. It's a great series and I have enjoyed each story.

One of McKevett's Best

If you could sum up Buried in Buttercream in three words, what would they be?

RelativesFrustrationMurder

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The three plots kept the story humming, whether it was waiting to find out what a suspect was going to say, what would put off the wedding AGAIN, or when Samantha would finally come to a boil and tell her no-good siblings to go home. The only disappointment in the book was that she never did.

What about Dina Pearlman’s performance did you like?

She is able to pull off a Southern drawl EXCEPT she still can't say "pecans" properly (In Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi, it's "puh-CAHNZ," not "PEE-canz." Don't pee in MY cans, thank you very much.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Very often, this series makes me laugh. I was touched by the story of the 16 year old prostitute and did not ever think about it being as bad in Nevada as it is everywhere else. However, I'm not really a "crier."

Any additional comments?

I may have rated it higher becaue it came on the tails of an audio book I didn't much like. Still, I did like this one and think it's one of her best.

Great, except for narrator and city names

Would you listen to Buried in Buttercream again? Why?

I enjoyed the book

Who was your favorite character and why?

Savannah because of all she has to put up with dealing with her family

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Overall, the performance was fine. I did enjoy the book, as I have enjoyed Savannah Reid books in other formats. HOWEVER, I am a native south Georgian, and have lived in or near many of the cities for which Savannah's siblings are named, That means I know how to pronounce them. It was jarring to my Georgia ear to hear Alma, Cordele, and Vidalia mispronounced so often. So readers from the south, especially GA, be warned.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Only to the narration and name pronunciation
