    "Completely satisfying"

I have read or listened to all of Tana French's Murder Squad series. They are all wonderful and Broken Harbor is as good as I had hoped it wold be. Enthralling, engaging, riveting, heartbreaking. I took my mp3 everywhere, I couldn't bear to turn it off.
The mystery is well-plotted and complex enough that I was stunned by the resolution. But really, it is French's characters, their emotional depth and richly detailed lives, feelings, relationships, that grab and hold you.
If you enjoy Kate Atkinson's books, you will probably like Tana French's even more.

"she's still my favorite new literary thriller"

this is the fourth in a loose series about detectives in the dublin murder squad, and while the least excellent so far, is still good. the stakes here don't seem high enough, for the detectives or for the murderers. too much is told in backstory and only occasionally does it feel scary or like anything is at risk.
the performance is great. her writing is great. the story just isn't as great as the last three books.

voice, inflection, adding him to my list of fav narrators.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    bit of emo there

"Another Excellent Story From Tana French"
If you could sum up Broken Harbor in three words, what would they be?

    Dublin Murder Squad

What was one of the most memorable moments of Broken Harbor?

I don't want to give away anything!

Which character – as performed by Stephen Hogan – was your favorite?

    Scorcher

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No - nothing extreme, but I thought the portrayal of characters with mental illnesses, and the effect that has on their families, was very well done.

    Any additional comments?

I appreciate the fact that, from what I can tell, the writing has not been modified for American audiences. I gather the language is authentic, and I find it really interesting to learn what expressions we have in common ("24/7"), and to figure out some of the Irish expressions mean ("Fair play to ya")

"Wow! Not Your Typical Murder Mystery"

The author really gets into the heads of all the characters. The narration was excellent, even the female characters were believable, which some male narrators don't do well. One part of the story was particularly disturbing. I want to read more by this author.

"One of the Best Audio Books I have ever read!"
What made the experience of listening to Broken Harbor the most enjoyable?

A Tour de Force by both the author and the narrator. The author does an incredible job of presenting a hideous crime and a completely believable mystery. There are enough clues for the reader to solve the crime, but enough realistic surprises so that you are completely absorbed right to the end.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is well crafted and lyrically written.

What about Stephen Hogan’s performance did you like?

If this had been a movie, Stephen Hogan would be nominated for both best actor and best supporting actress.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    The book is haunting.
