Publisher's summary

Art critic Jeremy Grove is found dead, his face frozen in a mask of terror. His body temperature is grotesquely high; he is discovered in a room barricaded from the inside; the smell of brimstone is everywhere... and the unmistakable imprint of a claw is burned into the wall. As more bodies are discovered - their only connection the bizarre but identical manner of death - the world begins to wonder if the Devil has, in fact, come to collect his due.

Teaming with Police Officer Vincent D'Agosta (The Relic), Agent Pendergast is determined to solve this case that appears to defy everything except supernatural logic.

Prolong the suspense: listen to another Pendergast novel.

My FAVORITE!!!

If you are enjoying this series for its most twisted, intricate windings, this one is great fun!!! Its long, stretches believability as far as you can possibly stretch, and even has a fun side plot going on. Loved it!

Fabulous! Scott Brick makes the story come alive. He is Pendergast...now on to Dance of Death (read by Scott Brick)

Why have I not read these before?

Much better than I expected! Now I'm looking forward to the next one and to the previous books that I've missed.

I liked that this kept me in my toes throughout. Pendergast is quite a character and the others in this book make for quite a cast. I'm glad the next book continues this story.

Scott Brick is simply amazing.

Captivating

Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child have done it again with another thriller. The narrator perfectly captured Pendergast and his New Orleans accent. Audible 20 Review Sweepstakes entry

Excellent

Brimstone is possibly the best in the series to this point, Being book 5. I really enjoyed relic and cabinet but this one might be my favorite so far.

Only complaint would be Scott brick as the narrator. He’s really not very good. They should have stuck with David Colacci from relic. He did the best accents !

Pendergast kicks bu-t once again!!

Once again an engaging well researched and fast paced book. I haven't been reading the series in order of publishing but it's worked just fine, each book stands well on it's own including Brimstone. This book brings you right to the edge of your seat and holds you there white knuckled for hours. The ending is gratifying and leaves the reader wanting another tale of Agent Pendergast.

Complexity of thought.

It told a story that was never boring or simplistic. I thought it one of the best in the series.

Marvelous Mystery!

These authors have a wonderful way of tossing many stories into the air and managing to keep them all aloft. They do the same with their creatively crafted characters. We have the reappearance of some old friends in this one, along with some new and properly dastardly foes. Preston and Child have conjured up a great mystery that takes us into the darkest depths of ancient evils as we follow our heroes on their international pursuit of truth and justice.

I agree - Finally!

If you could sum up Brimstone in three words, what would they be?

Gripping, suspenseful story

What did you like best about this story?

The character building that Preston and Child do is fantastic. You really feel the depth of them.

Which scene was your favorite?

The chase scene where they are being chased by the assassin towards the monastery. The reader, Scott Brick, did an astounding job on it (and it was well written, which helps).

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The development of the Reverend's character was particularly moving. They crafted him and built him into such a powerful character. You can see some of the same things that actually happened during the Occupy Wall Street protests. But this book was written 7-8 years before the protests.

Any additional comments?

Please produce the rest of the Preston/Child library unabridged. As I have already done, I will snatch them up as soon as they come available. I love this series and Mr. Brick's narration of it.
