Publisher's summary

Years ago, Sheriff Beck Tanner had believed the worst about Faith Matthews. Now she was back in their small Texas town, forcing him to question everything he thought he knew about her. And when the killer who'd murdered her family set his sights on Faith - and her innocent baby girl - Beck’s protective instincts kicked into high gear.

As dangerous pranks turned into deadly games, Beck needed Faith to trust him with the secrets of her past. And with a sadistic killer circling closer, all of Beck’s attention had to be on keeping her baby safe...and ignoring his inconvenient attraction to the beautiful mother....

Good story Bad narrator

I am sure the story would have been better if the narrator didn't sound like Dolly Parton or flat. I'm going to read it to make sure if I'm right because I do enjoy Delores Fossen's novels.

A Standout!

Normally I read these type of books for fluff, especially after reading some heavy duty books. However, this one was a total surprise. It had suspense galore, mystery and a lil light romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Quick synopsis: Faith was accused of sleeping with a married man, at the time she was only 18. Subsequently she was run out of town. 10 years later after the murder of her sister and mother, she returns to town to take a job as the Assistant District Attorney. The man's family that she supposedly slept with isn't too happy about her return, that includes the brother, who is now the sheriff. The first day of her return rocks are thrown thru her window with a message on them warning her that if she doesn't leave she will die. At this point the Texas Rangers get involved along with the local sheriff, Beck, who happened to be there when the rocks were thrown. As the incidences of threats continue, Faith's only concern is keeping her infant daughter safe. Everyone is looking for Faith's brother and her sister's ex, because they are suspects in the murder of her mother and sister. I won't say anymore, but it did keep me interested until the end. The narrator did a fair job. Her male voices need some improvement, but she did attempt to make them different sounding which is a plus, I can see with more practice she will become much better. All in all a surprising read/listen.

Branded by the Sheriff

While the story-line is interesting, I would have enjoyed it more without the sex scenes.

The narrator wasn't to my liking. Her hitch pitched characters actually grated on my nerves and the accent that she used for the nanny was truly awful.
