When the Academy Awards become the target of a brutal terror attack, only one man can stave off massive bloodshed.
Mind's Eye, the novel that introduced Nick Hall, was a runaway Kindle best seller. Now Hall returns in a riveting standalone thriller set in an Internet future that is just around the corner. From the New York Times best-selling author of Wired.
Nick Hall, an unwilling recipient of brain implants, can surf the Web with his thoughts and read minds. And while this makes him one of the most formidable men on Earth, he is determined to stay off the grid. But when terrorists seize control of the Academy Awards and vow to butcher the world's most beloved stars one by one in front of an international television audience, Hall is forced to reveal his astonishing capabilities.
Now power players around the world will stop at nothing to capture him. And as the secretive group working with Hall begins to unravel, he is sure of only two things: He has been betrayed by someone close to him. And the stakes he is playing for could not be any higher....
Based on actual research on thought-controlled Web surfing, BrainWeb is a smart thriller that raises a number of intriguing possibilities about a future that is rapidly approaching.

Most of the characters are one dimensional with little complexity. I did not feel a strong connection with them until quite a bit into the book, partly because the writer seemed to try too hard to make you care for them early on.
The narrator while really good, at times did not exude enough gravitas for some parts that needed it. The end was a little too perfect of an ending for me but maybe I am a cynic!
Even with those issues, I really had a fun time listening to the story. The story line, the technology, the banter between characters and the pacing where all great. Highly recommend.
thought provoking issues, cutting edge tech and variety of elements woven into thrilling novel. thanks Mr Richards
I love books! I have been reading since I learned how and have found so many genres that I cant live without! There's nothing better than loosing yourself in a good book and I cant wait to get my next one.
Seriously this guy has really interesting science and tech in his books but he tells the exact same story over and over. Jihadists are going to wipe out America. This is seriously the plot to ALL of his books. He uses the phrase "bad actors" over and over in every single book and repeats so many other phrases that it's like his books are made from a template. It's ridiculous smh. For a guy writing fiction, he certainly has very little originality or imagination. It makes me sad because the theories on the sciences and tech are really cool. What a shame.
The first book of the installment was far better. This one is very preachy and goes on and on about one's belief, and then a lengthy, boring debate between two sides regarding technology, and then more preaching. It also feel very unpolished, the dialogue sometimes sounds like a TV script rather than a book.
The story is great. But in my opinion a lot of the conversation between the characters was a little too simple and cliché. This does not ruin the book, It just detracts from my enjoyment of it.
I could only read a few chapters . The plot is as improbable as it is predictable and flowing every turn all these TV shows do today: evil terrorists, bombs superhero, special abilities etc.... boring
"Thought Provoking Spy type novel"
This incorporates issues from today with the what-if's of tomorrow. Fast-paced it has all the hallmarks of a James Bond action film with what would be the consequences if people could access the internet through mind implants. Attractive as it can be the book highlights "be careful what you wish for".
I found the characters engaging and I wanted to know what was going to happen- the narrator was good as he was able to give distinctive voices to the characters so tha you could easily pick up on who was speaking without sounding idiotic.
If you want a fast paced action novel that makes you stop and say "what would I do" then I would recommend.
loved the characters different voices. Thank you very much for an interesting variety of characters
