Publisher's summary

When Eve Duncan gave birth to her daughter, she experienced a love she never knew existed. Nothing would stand in the way of giving Bonnie a wonderful life - until the unthinkable happened and the seven-year-old vanished into thin air. Eve found herself in the throes of a nightmare from which there was no escape. But a new Eve emerged: a woman who would use her remarkable talent as a forensic sculptor to help others find closure in the face of tragedy. Now with the help of her beloved Joe Quinn and CIA agent Catherine Ling, Eve has come closer than ever to the truth. But the deeper she digs, the more she realizes that Bonnie’s father is a key player in solving this monstrous puzzle. And that Bonnie’s disappearance was not as random as everyone had always believed...

painful

What disappointed you about Bonnie?

I found this story incredibly difficult to listen to. I waded through (as I did with the last two IJ books) just so that I would know what had happened to Bonnie. and could say a final goodbye to anything written by Iris Johansen. I don't know whether I have matured as a reader or if Iris has just given up / passed her books on to be ghost written. The habit of using

What do you think your next listen will be?

The Snowman by Jo Nesbo

What three words best describe Jennifer Van Dyck???s performance?

What character would you cut from Bonnie?

i have no idea. i don't think additional characters are the issue.

Repetition to death

I bought this audiobook based on the positive reviews and found myself being very disappointed.
I think it was the dialogue that did it for me. It was repetitious, dull, and used in excess. Fast-forwarding 10-15 minutes at a time did not matter as the characters were still harping on about the same things over and over and over and over and over again.
In short, I was bored by this book.

Oh my goodness. :(

What disappointed you about Bonnie?

First of all, the narrator grated on my nerves. Can't say exactly why, but you know how it is. Sometimes you really like the voice, and sometimes you don't. Secondly, I thought the plot was rather corny, the characters vague. After a while, I didn't care where the heck Bonnie was.

What was most disappointing about Iris Johansen’s story?

Everything.

What didn’t you like about Jennifer Van Dyck’s performance?

I particularly didn't like her voice of Bonnie.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

None.

The end is here

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes. This story tied up a lot of loose ends that were left dangling in other story lines.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The pace was a bit slow at times. There was a lot of time spent tracking down key suspect in story. I would have liked the character relationship between Gallo and Katherine developed more.

Have you listened to any of Jennifer Van Dyck’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I enjoyed it.

Was Bonnie worth the listening time?

Yes. Finally...we know how and why and the who of Bonnie's death.

Any additional comments?

Not what I had expected for the final story. It was a bit anticlimactic. The bad guys from all other stories gave the impression that something much different (and more horrible) happened to Bonnie.

The End of the Quest

I loved the book, it is one of my favorite Eve Duncan books. With following Eve for over a decade I am so happy Eve finally found Bonnie, but I am not sure how I feel now that the quest is over.

I loved it

I've read a few different reviews that didn't enjoy this as a way of ending this whole storyline. I have to say I enjoyed it because from my point of view how much more struggle would it be to know she died violently and in pain or scared that would be worse to live with over and over and over again. I know she's been thinking that for the last however many years. but she has the solace to know she was not in pain she was not scared and it was an accident a tragic accident that could have been much worse considering who was following her. I think as a mother I feel horrible of the loss but it's like the loss after a long sickness that you've been fighting every day or even a long sickness that you thought you were over and all of a sudden one day takes you. I did enjoy how this ended it was better than it being a serial killer mad child molester person.
