Publisher's summary

A wildly funny, irreverent tale of murder, mayhem, and the mob.

When up-and-coming chef Tommy Pagana settles for a less than glamorous stint at his uncle's restaurant in Manhattan's Little Italy, he unwittingly finds himself a partner in big-time crime. And when the mob decides to use the kitchen for a murder, nothing Tommy learned in cooking school has prepared him for what happens next. With the FBI on one side and his eccentric wise guy superiors on the other, Tommy has to struggle to do right by his conscience and avoid getting killed in the meantime....

Stuffed with charming characters and peppered with Bourdain's wry humor, Bone in the Throat is one satisfying feast of a novel.

His fiction has such an element of reality, from experience. It really keeps the reader/listener rooting for the "Boys"!

the butcher and the sous chef

If you like"The Kinkster" ( Kinky Freidman) you will like this. I do and I did. A mini mafia tale with some characters that are both funny and crazy not too mention killers. Love the kitchen scenes and I must have one of those knives......

This was SO good!!!

What a magnificent surprise. At first I was disappointed that Bordain wasn’t reading it himself, but this was one of the best narrations I’ve ever experienced. KUDOS on the A+ performance. What’s great story. Salute!!!

Anthony is the Quentin Tarantino off foodies...?

What a weird and awesome pairing of subjects. Much like Bourdain himself... Never sugar coated, from classy snobbery to seedy underbelly...

well done ivery way

this is realistic. I have lived & known people who were or are just like characters in this story, aside from the authorities. I knew non of them. it's all very real.

Very unique culinary-based mafia story

I highly enjoyed this story. The characters were well written and the story was different than what I'm used to. It was about a mafia family with one good egg on the tree who turned out to be a sous chef and the hero of the story. It brought me back the days where I was s cook. I learned new ways to use kitchen utensils for self defense or for murders. I also learned a bit about past drug purchasing methods in NY city. Not a book for people who can't tolerate offensive language or gory imagery. Bourdain was a much better writer than I predicted he would be.
