Publisher's summary

Late one night Beryl Madison turns off her burglar alarm, puts down her gun and opens her door to the man who has stalked and terrorized her for months. Hours later, her brutally mutilated body lies in the city morgue. As Scarpetta begins searching for the microscopic clues to the killer’s identity, one question keeps nagging her: why did Beryl let him in?

Great book

I have read many books in the Scarpetta series. We began the series from scratch in Audibke, driving w hubby OTR. I am reminded of Kay's humanity and vulnerability in these early books.

Page turner

The turns & twists kept me guessing’. The character distinction between is very clear! Well written!

Review of Body of Evidence

I like most of the Scarlett’s novels, this one being no exception. My only beef is why an intelligent person like her would persist with being a loner for catching a killer, as if she alone can figure out the complexities of a criminal mind and the men around her must be put in their place! That non realistic portrayal of a feminist superhero is a little overbearing and sometimes disappointing in this character framework. But I still love the series!

Had a hard time getting into it

Ok but not great. There wasn’t a lot of expression from the readers at all.

Nothing like a good murder mystery!

I really enjoyed listening to this first in a series. It is amazing to me that just 20 years ago there was no such thing as a "cell phone". So much has changed in such a short number of years. I definitely will purchase the next two books and see if I enjoy these as much as I enjoyed this first book.

Body of Evidence

Another outstanding crime novel in the “Kay Scarlett Series” by Patricia Cornwall. I so enjoy how she develops each character to point that you can actually visualize them. Her multiple plots are excellent and her detail is incredible. So much imagination is thrilling. I also enjoy this narrator. I think that I have read the series at least once and then go back and re read my favorites along with the audiobooks ... Have fun ..

Ending anticlimactic, storiy drags at times.

The lead character presents as unsophisticated in personal life especially for time period. The dance around her sex life and the other characterx seems sophomoric and tedious.

Can't decide on if this was good or not

So I liked the book but I think that has more to do with the characters than the actual story. Scarpatta and Marino’s relationship is just too much fun in how much they respect each other but yet can irritate the hell out of each other at the same time.

There were too many similar to the first book that bothered me. The two main things are that yet again Scarpetta’s office is made to look bad with her superiors and the media and the her romantic partner is a main part of the mystery.

I was really intrigued by the murder mystery and it grabbed me right from the beginning but I felt like the author didn’t know how to wrap it up so it ended very anticlimactically and all the loose ends were tied up a little too neatly. The mystery is really two stories in one and one story almost overwhelms the book when the other story seemed to have more impact on the outcome.

I look forward to the next one. The narrator of CJ Critt did an excellent job with the characters I loved Marino’s voice the most.
