    "Bert"

This is the first book that I have read by this author. I am now half way through the CD's and am astounded at the character build up, the emotional grasp of the characters, and the titilation as you are left with at each chapter. For instance, at the end of one chapter, a character is in a dark garage aware that someone is there with her. Several chapters later in the beginning of the chapter, this same character is now in a concrete tomb, trying to claw her way out and not knowing why she is there. I am already looking for more books by this author. I like her main character --strong, sharp, intelligent, sensitive, and kind. I can't wait to listen to more of her books. I recommend this book to highly.

    "I like this author but....."

This book has a good story line but seems drawn out. The Narrator is terrible. She sounds like a 12 year old reading a book with no feeling for the character. They all sound the same. I will continue to listen to books by this author but hopefully she'll change narrators.

    "Confounding Mystery"

Dr. Maura Isles is a staple of Tess Gerritsen's writing, and in this tale, a body is found outside Maura's house, murdered. It is Maura. Except when Maura comes home, and the truth comes out: this isn't Maura, it's a twin sister she never knew she had.

But was Maura the target? And why was her sister trying to find her?

Dark and well paced, this book explores Maura's mostly unknown past up to this point, and has a well written delve into a very disturbed psychology or two. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers, this one definitely delivers, as Gerritsen usually does.

    "Great book!"

This is the 3rd book I've listened to of hers and this one was the best. It kept me on edge and looking over my shoulder.

    "Entertaining"

I enjoyed this novel and had trouble turning it off. It moved quickly and had some good turns. I would have enjoyed more romance as in Gerritson's earlier works, but the mystery was very good.

    "Average Story, bad narration"

I found it very difficult to get into this story. The narration was so monotone, I had to struggle to stay awake and follow the story line. I would not purchase a book read by this narrator again.

    "Good book, bad narrator"

This book was enjoyable despite the droning voice of the narrator. I found it difficult to get interested as it was read in a bit of a monotone voice. The narrator got a bit more animated as the story went on, but my advice is to listen to the preview and decide if you can stand it. It almost ruined the book for me and unfortunately I won't pick a book narrated by this person again. Having said all that...the book itself was enjoyable enough.

    "sloooow thinkers"

So the thing about this book is that it takes the protagonists a VERY long time to figure stuff out, even when 99% of it is spelled out for them. It's like watching "Wheel of Fortune." Combined with the sloooow narration, it's kind of frustrating.

Other annoying stuff: being a dude, the romance stuff seems a little tedious. Also, isn't Yoshima supposed to be American? Why does the narrator give me a Charlie Chan accent? WTF?

    "Great listen, lots of twists"

I like mysteries and this one had surprises all the way through. The characters were interesting, and I could not put it down. I though the narrator did a good job; I specifically liked the voice of Detective Jane Rizzoli; the Boston accent reminded me of my years there.

The main character is a medical examiner, so there is quite a bit of gore; but it is presented clinically, so there is some detachment there. Good writing, fast paced plot and strong characters. What more could you want?
