    "George Does it Again"

Good book, interesting Middle East history. George Guidall, the narrator, can make any novel fascinating, as he did so here. The book is very light on mystery but has some good moments. Good listening during a raging snowstorm like today.

    "Disappointing"
What would have made Blowback better?

This could have been cut down - the history went on and on.

What was most disappointing about Brad Thor’s story?

The story was a let down from previous books. The concentration on the artifacts and history got bogged down and lost me - this is the first book I haven't finished in a very long time.

How could the performance have been better?

Why use a different narrator? It felt wrong.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Not really.

"Not the best of the Scott Harvath series"

George Guidall was a wonderful narrator. I was going to not finish Blowback but because of Guidall, I decided not to give up. The novel was okay but I felt that there were too many cooks in the kitchen. There were too many minor characters that not only did not need to be included but took away from the plot of the novel. I became confused at times because the novel was jumping back and forth so often that I had to stop and think, where does this fit into the plot. Who are these people and how do they relate to to the part I've just finished and what is their role?

The prior novels were full of action and suspense. However, the Scott Harvath in Blowback was running in circles and surely did need a vacation. I don't think he knew what he was doing or where he was supposed to be.

I was able to put this novel down and occupy my time doing other things and would return later and start to listen again. I didn't want to miss listening to Blowback due to the fact that I had read all of the previous ones. Hoping Scott Harvath is given a better operation in the next novel in the series.

    "NOT THOR'S BEST"

This book is not as good as the first couple, personally I don't think Thor can touch Flynn nor Rapp come close to Harvath, BUT Scott Harvath is still an interesting character & in reality I guess closer to the real thing because without help ALL THE TIME he would have ended up dying which in true life is true, but I like my espionage like Jason Bourne and Mitch Rapp... KICK BUTT!!!

The book had a few sections that seemed improbably even with the suspension u should have anyways... I'd recommend the 1st three books over this one if you are trying to use a credit

Although I love it when a book has the Saudi's getting it up the butt LOL

"Scott Harvath and A woman to save him"

A little tired of the same story. Scot Harvath gets in trouble and some woman from somewhere in the world just happens to have the correct skill set to save him. At this point, Mr Thor should just write the book about the woman and leave Scot Harvath out of it. Or maybe, let the great Scot Harvath be the great Scot Harvath and leave the women out of it. Vince Flynn makes the same mistake. Clancy is still the King.

"First and last chance for this author."

Harvath was an arrogant and bumbling "hero" and the senator from Philadelphia with initials HC was so tailored on Hillary that it was silly. The author should stick to writing plots and have someone else come up with the characters and dialogue.

    "Another great read by Thor"

Everything I have grown to expect from Thor after reading Lions of Lucerne. I enjoy the espionage/spy genre, especially with characters that grow from one book to the next. Blowback was no dissappointment.

    "same-old, same-old"

Mildly entertaining if you like the old thriller formula of the good guy and the beautiful woman racing against time to stop the bad guy(s) from taking over the world. I wish someone would either vary the formula or at least create interesting instead of hackneyed characters.

    "It's All In The Plot"

I have no doubt terrorist grougs would love to use some type of biological weapon in the U.S.A, but Rabies combined with Snake venom? Just not believeable. And dragging this woman around with him just didnt make any sense at all. She is a scientist not an agent from any clandestine agency. Mr Thor is going to have to do better than this to keep me as a fan. The only thing I liked about the book was G. Guidal's narration. To me he has a very soothing voice so I used this book to let Mr G. read me to sleep.

"Hopefully he pays royalties to Vince Flynn"
Would you try another book from Brad Thor and/or George Guidall?

    Probably 1 mmore

Has Blowback turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not the genre but almost turned me off the author

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is very good, have listed to him on a number of books

Could you see Blowback being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes - I am guessing he wrote it while watching Die Hard so a young Bruce Willis or maybe just with a hair piece

    Any additional comments?

The situations the hero gets in and out of are totally unrealistic and on a similar level to Die Hard 4.0. I will probably try one more in the series but definitely not as good as Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series (although it looks as though that's where he got the original idea - I hope he pays royalties)
