Publisher's summary

At the reading of her father's will, Maria Slade receives shocking news—as a four-year-old, she'd witnessed her prostitute mother's murder and been taken into hiding by the well-meaning preacher who'd raised her as his own. Maria remembers none of that. But now she's determined to flush her mother's killer out of hiding and discover the identity of her birth father. She heads to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she meets Detective Bodie Scott.

Empathizing with this beautiful woman looking to find out who she really is, he opens the decades-old case file. Their investigation leads them down a dangerous path, where no one is what they seem. Where a father does not want to be found. And a murderer has "like mother, like daughter" in mind for Maria.

Narration NOT RIGHT!!!!!!!!

I have read Sharon Sala's books before and have enjoyed them--this was not her best. But maybe it was the narration. I hope the next story about Holly is better; maybe it was the narration (I say again). She should have just read it rather than trying to perform a difference in the characters. For that I think she messed up the story.

My first listen

This book was okay, but I could predict exactly what was going to happen. Since it was my first book by Sharon Sala, it wasn't as obnoxious. I recommend only hearing one of her books though. Once you've heard one, you've heard them all.

enjoyable story

An enjoyable start to the series and worth the listen, despite slow and laboured narration.

GREAT STORY!!!

Sharon Sala has swiftly become one of my favorite authors. Her stories are always so engaging and entertaining. However, this narrator could have been much, much better. Her male voices didn't sound male...actually on the brink of being female sounding. But narration is sometime easily overlooked when the story is great. Don't miss this one!!!

It was a bit predictable.

it was predictable and I didn't like that the killers identity is pretty much known very early on. I did like the race against time aspect of it. but there was no real mystery.

Love Wins in the End

I started this book, awhile back. At that time I probably, saw another book, that was better (I thought). I liked the book, when I picked it up again. I like the balance and the progression up to the end. The love was touching, humorous yet serious.

Boring, repetitive and predictable.

Would you try another book from Sharon Sala and/or Gayle Hendrix?

Not by Sala. Forced myself through first book in series and tried other books because I'd foolishly bought whole series, but couldn't make myself waste the time. No real objection to the narrator. She just had lousy material.

Would you ever listen to anything by Sharon Sala again?

No

Would you be willing to try another one of Gayle Hendrix’s performances?

Probably, but I'd check reviews much more closely.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Blood Stains?

Would have been better as short stories or if entire series had been done as in book.
