Publisher's summary

The ultimate secret. The ultimate agent. The President's vampire. Zach Barrows is an ambitious young White House staffer whose career takes an unexpected turn when he's partnered with Nathaniel Cade, a secret agent sworn to protect the President. But Cade is no ordinary civil servant. Bound by a special blood oath, he is a vampire. Cade battles nightmares before they can break into the daylight world of the American dream, enemies far stranger-and far more dangerous-than civilians have ever imagined. Blood Oath is the first in a series of novels featuring Nathaniel Cade-the President's vampire.

Second time's a charm!

Read this book the first time 06-16-2010. I wanted to read it again before continuing with "The President's Vampire". I think I liked it better the second time.

Cool Vampire twist

I likely have read all the vampire books available and was pleased to find yet another take on the subject. Although it started off a little slow for me I found that as time went on I couldn't wait to listen again.

Top Notch Urban Fantasy!

Loved it from start to finish. Great characters and the action was phenominal, only topped by a well crafted storyline.

Kind of like those 1950's crime dramas...

I found the book a treat to listen to. Well written, nicely read and a total "bubble-gum for the mind" experience. So much about vamps is all dark and goth, where this is much more about the redemption thing. Think "Forever Knight" or "Angel" sort of situation. I recommend it for a nice reading get-away.

Pretty good

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this book was, although some of the side characters grated on my nerves. The action was well done and not frivolously bloody, and the main character is interesting.
I hope that if there is another book, the author will flesh out the characters more and give a little more subtlety to the characters.

Excellent Book in an Excellent Series

I can't handle all of the ups and downs. My family believes I should be on medication. At one moment I am cheering, then upset, then angry, then cheering, then just sitting quietly. Mr. Farnsworth, you should more consideration for your readers (listeners) emotional state of well-being!
This book, and series as a whole, does a great job of weaving fact, fiction, the occult, and things that go "bump!" in the night into a fast paced adventure that leaves you wanting more.
I found myself identifying with the characters and quickly accepting the hidden-world that Christopher Farnsworth was pieced together. Just an all around fun ride, that I highly recommend.
Bronson Pinchot does another amazing job with narration. His choice in character voice and tone embodies the characters well and he is just an absolute pleasure to listen to. When you are done with the series (you ARE going to give this a try, right?) I recommend looking at some of the other books narrated by Pinchot, he really is very good.
I highly recommend this book and series. Passing on it would be a serious mistake, one that Nathaniel Cade just might show up to rectify in the still of the night.
