Spider Shepherd's MI5 controller, Charlie Button, has gone rogue, using government resources to get revenge on the men who killed her husband.
Spider is told to betray her. Worse, he's asked to cooperate with his nemesis at MI6, Jeremy Willoughby Brown, in taking Charlie down.
Meanwhile Spider's 16-year-old son is caught with drugs. But the drug police offer Spider a deal: go undercover, unmask a local dealer and his son will go free. Spider has no option but to cooperate. There's little time to debate because another high profile mission is about to engulf him.
Along with everything else, it's down to Spider to stop the assassination of a head of state on British soil.

"Awesome Stephen get working on the next Spider & Charlie book"
Just when you thought it couldn't get better Stephen writes another got to be best seller - Spider & Charlie (& Lex) area great reading formula!
Tense, Exciting, Believable
I liked the way that this story went from one place to another and dealt with a number of issues before coming to a conclusion where all parties met. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I can't remember anything specific
Laugh in parts. Being ex-service I like the way the banter rolls into the story.
I am a huge fan of the narrator but I think he has made a mistake with one of the characters in this book. Otherwise this was Thornley at his best. I quite like the way Mr Leather puts his stories together.
A good holiday book. hope the real world is not actually like this. kept me enthralled while running and took my mind off the miles.
"Does exactly what it says on the tin."
Spider Sharpe Lex and Charlotte embark upon another fascinating adventure cant fault it Leather at his inimitable best again.
Leather's usual pace and drive, but with greater depth of character development and many overlying layers. Sorry to get to the end! Even though it was an unpredictable summation of the interwoven narrative. Cracking story, and nearly worth being stuck in hospital for three days to listen to it!
"Not the best but a good listen."
Why the change of voice for Lex Harper though. Well read story with a good back story.
"another great story"
