Great Series

I thought this book was great. I loved the narrator and after listening to all the books up to Aunt dimity and the Buried treasure I was extremely disappointed with the new narrator. She is hard to understand and had no change for various characters. I often can't tell when she has changed characters. I will probably order the remainder of the series in kindle form.

Overall good book but worst Scottish accent I’ve ever heard

The narrator does well enough for the American characters. The British characters are pretty forced but listenable. But the Scottish characters were making me laugh out loud. This may be the worst Scottish accent I have ever heard in my life. Luckily there are a few Scottish characters throughout the book and their speaking parts are relatively limited. So, get the book anyway enjoy the story and get ready to laugh when the Scotts come calling.

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde personality

There's that saying show don't tell which is always good for writers to remember. in this book it would be nice if there was a little bit more telling, she's a woman who's divorced and living with other women sharing their rent she doesn't have a lot of money so you know she doesn't have a lot to spend on food but when she gets to the mansion and she has nice food put in front of her she says during the fish course we talked about this, gee how was the fish was it good ? Was it nice to have a meal like that? nothing. writes about how the foyer has all these oil paintings, what are the oil paintings of landscapes, ancestors, little, yellow rubber duckies what? The way she falls right into spending money and out of left field we hear she was a world traveler she's been to England several times.
Never heard of a ghost that will communicate with you in paragraphs and paragraphs boy she has a lot of metaphysical energy.
she's not a bit leery going into that big house, bedrooms going up upstairs there's no suspense there. I think the biggest fault is what's her deal always getting mad at her to be boyfriend, I mean she flips the switch and I don't even know where she gets these ideas from. She goes absolutely schizo if he makes a little joke. She wrote a lot of these books I don't know if she got any better, I don't think I'll read anymore to see if she did. You feel like there's pieces of a chapter missing here and there. I guess you can tell this is not a winner for me.

Narrator sounds like she is reading.

The story is kind of interesting but I couldn't finish it because the narrator reads it without emotion or drama, like she is reading it for the first time.

No cannot finish this book

The story is boring the Narrator appalling. I had to change the narration speed to to try to make it better but then the story bored me silly - I got this for a credit and still couldn't stand it

A favorite book, but the narration...

I have really liked this book since I read it many years ago. It's too bad that they used such a terrible narrator with such a poor sense of pacing. I bought this Audible book in spite of the performance, but it really does detract from the charming story.

An Old Favorite

Love the Aunt Dimity stories---they are the perfect "cozy" to escape from all the stressors of daily life. Unfortunately, the narration felt stilted & it took awhile for me to let go of my frustration with it so I could just enjoy the story.

Good story, weird narration

The narration for this story is done in a kind of weird staccato style so much so that I had to speed up the time to make it sound conversational. Story is sweet, though, and worth a listen.

Relationships

Well written, nice characters are bit predictable and slow to start but picks up. I will read the next ones.

Narration "fixed"

What did you love best about Aunt Dimity's Death?
The story is delightfully different and fun.

What about Teri Clark Linden’s performance did you like?
I too found she was speaking very slowly and I was annoyed as I so wanted to like this story. So, I experimented and changed the narration speed to 1.25X. Voila! That was it,
I now know the secret and am happily await more in this series, by this same narrator.
