Legal thriller page turner!

I'm becoming a big fan of legal thriller Pamela Samuels Young. This novel is in her Verndetta Henderson series. The novel deals with three primary cases. The first is a pro football star accused of rape but with insufficient evidence to charge, he is sued in civil court. The second is about a retail company accused of sexual discrimination. The third is a murder case. But mostly this novel is about lawyer Verndetta Henderson and he issues with a crooked female lawyer.

RC Bray is one of the elites among narrators. Listening to him is always fun.

And Justice For All....

I've really enjoyed the Vernetta Henderson stories. I've read them all. This is the 4th in the series. It's really three stories in one which is about a pro football star who is accused of rape but there is not enough evidence to charge him so he is sued in civil court; a retail company accused of sexual discrimination; and a murder case. But most interesting is the ongoing issues Vernetta's has with an unscrupulous female colleague.

RC Bray is one of audible's top notch narrators. He pulls you into the story. One reviewer described his performance as "tv in a book."

Highly Recommend....

Ewwww this was good.....

First, this girl (Pamela Samuels young) right here combined with the narrator opened my eyes to the Mystery/Thriller genre.
People dying, business documents compromised, employee/er scandal…can you say TV in a book.
What I liked most – was that the Christian lady had unshakeable faith, no matter what was thrown her way, she stayed the course.
The battle of how the lawyers worked in/outside the court room/streets and office, was definitely intriguing to say the least (is this how it is really?).
Favorite Character: I’m not sure but I always lean toward the lead character as my favorite. I have been following the Vernetta Henderson series since book one. Vernetta is my girl. She is a go getter and she does it strictly by the book. She is a winner.

Without hesitation I would definitely recommend. I would strongly suggest this book and all others in the series. The narrator R.C. Bray delivers amazingly.

A bit disappointed

What did you love best about Attorney-Client Privilege?

The exploration into Islam.

Would you recommend Attorney-Client Privilege to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, but not wholeheartedly. Too much of the ho going on with both men and women. Too many of the women are over the top and mean.

What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?

Even though most of the characters are women, RC changes his voice enough so that I can tell them all apart. Vernetta is spot on.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was appalled by the pushiness of Special. If she really wants to become a detective she will need to learn some tact and patience.

Any additional comments?

Why do all the current mysteries rely on murders and deaths? This series seems to be getting more violent as it goes on. I'll try one more but unless we get a real mystery, not just find the murderer, that will be it.
As I have said in a previous review, I appreciate the insight into Black Culture but now am wondering if the representation is true or not with all the cursing and sexism.

Great series

I am really enjoying the Vernetta Henderson series. She is such a smart woman, a lawyer and a loving wife. She's finally running her own business and has has accomplished a few big law suits. Its the swagger of her opponent lawyer Girly Cortez, who wins every case, Vernetta has lost 4 cases against this powerful, beautiful, sexy, and corrupt lawyer. Lots of twist and turns. I can hardly wait for the next book. I got one question, but I'll wait.

One can tell the authors Pamela Young really did her research. Its really one of the better law fiction book I've read in a long time, definitely a page turner.

Great Book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Not really.

Have you listened to any of R. C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

NO

Any additional comments?

I will probably purchase another book buy this author. Having said that, here is what I think. I think the story is well written but somewhat mislabeled. I wanted a murder mystery. I did not want a harlequin romance about the two couples nor did I want a lesson on the Muslim faith. At least if there was that much conflict going on surrounding the faith, it should have been intertwined somewhere in the murder. It wasn't. It felt like unnecessary exposition. Also I did not like when the husband states -you know how black women are- . I read so that I can escape the stereotypes not perpetuate them. Woman of all ethnic groups are a trip. Other than the things that I mentioned, I would say that the author is talented and her work is engaging.
