Publisher's summary

The picturesque Cotwsold village of Winter Parva has decided to warm the post-Christmas season by roasting a pig in the town square. Agatha, always one for a good roasting, organizes an outing to enjoy the merriment. But as the rotary spit is placed over a bed of fiery charcoals and the pig is carried toward its final resting place, Agatha realizes that things are not as they seem...

"Stop!" she screams suddenly. The "pig," in fact, is Gary Beech, a policeman not exactly beloved by the good people of the village. Although Agatha has every intention of leaving matters to the police, everything changes when Gary's ex-wife hires Agatha's detective agency to investigate - and then is murdered too. With that provocation, how could any sleuth as vain and competitive (and secretly insecure) as Agatha do anything other than solve the case herself?

A Grand Adventure

Nothing like a good story to make the housework fly by. I can always depend on MC Beaton.

Nice mystery, characters are very interesting

This is just a good, solid series. All the stories are light, humorous, and engaging easy reading. I always look forward to continuing on to the next story in the series and considering there are 20+ books in the series, that is quite an achievement. The narration by Penelope Keith is also exceptional.

Love Agatha Raisin

Would you consider the audio edition of As the Pig Turns to be better than the print version?

Definitely.

What was one of the most memorable moments of As the Pig Turns?

The whole story was typical Agatha Raisin, which was what I was anticipating with glee. Agatha never disappoints. She gets herself into ridiculous situations and then always manages to get back out. I love the way she stumbles into fatal events. Also, I like her coterie of pals, the nice Mrs. Blocksby, the attractive-but-distant James, narcissistic Roy, and the noble Charles.

Which scene was your favorite?

Can't pick just one.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh, as I knew it would.

Just have to love the unlikable Agatha Raisin

I've read/or listened to them all and look forward to the next in the series. This
one did not disappoint. Fun and witty.

Penelope Keith: Enough Said!

If you could sum up As the Pig Turns in three words, what would they be?

Engaging, amusing, and enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

It didn't signal the "who dunnit" in the first chapter, like some British "cozies" sometimes do.

Have you listened to any of Penelope Keith’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes! Her voice is consistently like that of an intelligent, amusing, witty, and slightly sardonic friend relating an entertaining story over the phone in my ear. I've listened to several Agatha Raisin novels, some narrated by Penelope Keith and others by someone else. Those novels voiced by Ms. Keith are by far my favorites.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Come for the barbecue, stay for the entertainment!

Any additional comments?

Please, please! Hire Penelope Keith to read more of anything - seed catalogues, mobile phone contracts, software user agreement documents - anything!!!

Characters get better and better

Agatha has evolved. The only characters that do not grow are the victors. They all seem to be unsuited to their roll.

It like that the flawed good characters may get beat up but do not get bumped off.

A swiney murder?

Murder, romance and chaos, all rounded out with multiple crime branches touching the police force.
Agatha and her employees are all in danger, is it possible to solve the case before anyone in the office is murdered?

Stories Are Getting Better

The characters are coming to life. Agatha continues to be ridiculous around handsome men, but she’s a good detective.
