Nuptials

With the pending wedding of his daughter, Walt finds himself embroiled in a questionable suicide that pulls him away from his fatherly duties. With the assistance of "The Cheyenne Nation" and a tenacious newcomer tribal female sheriff, Walt sets of to figure it all out while trying to appease Katy and her wedding plans. Just plain classic Longmire and Mr. Johnson delivers again. On a personal note, and why I do not give the story five stars, for the third or fourth time, Johnson puts in a chapter which throws Walt into a fantasy world that is supposed to provide some simile of the unfolding plot. I am just not a fan of these sideshow ventures and listen in boredom until it passes. Just a personal perspective as I am sure others find this entertaining.

I always love a Longmire story

Another winner from Craig Johnson. Who else but George Guidall brings life to these characters?

As the Crow Flies was the last bk I needed to read

Yeah I actually read this series out of order after the first four books. 'Cause I realized that each book could be read as a stand-alone, but there is an actual series ARC. My pocket book guided this decision and I picked up a Craig Johnson title every time Audible put one on sale. As it turns out "As the Crow Flies" was the last book I needed to plug the hole in the series. Now that I've finally caught up... the only thing left is waiting for the next release in September. 😆
Walt Longmire and Henry Standing Bear are scoping out a spot in Montana on the reservation as Cady has her heart set on having a traditional wedding there. When they witness someone falling off a cliff they rush to the tribal police. It turns out that the new police chief is as green as they come! She asks Walt for help and pointers, Walt Longmire drops everything and starts the investigation. Seriously it's what Walt does!
You'll need to grab this book and dig in! No matter how you read this series...

Another winner

Guidall is the Sheriff. His narrations capture the humor as well as the essence of all the characters. Not Mr Johnson's best plot but I do look forward to the (hopefully) clashing of LoLo and Vic. Nice intro to another flawed yet very human character. Awaiting the next episode. I enjoy these characters and marvel at Guidall's performances.
Definitely worth the listen.

No "Reservation"s

This is another well-done story about Walt Longmire and company. Good characters, a good mystery, good family dynamics... my eighth read in this series did not disappoint. A lot of it takes place on the Cheyenne Reservation, and insights into the culture thereof make this book stand out a bit vs. others in the series.

I can't imagine any other narrator being Walt (or any of the other characters, for that matter) -- this one does a very nice job.

Can't wait for book 9 later this year!

Awesome as always

Very good addition to the series. Walt is distracted from wedding preparations for his daughter due to the death of a young woman who fell/was pushed from a cliff while holding her infant son. The son survived thanks to Dog, who found the baby and then guarded him while her recovered. The new police chief for the Reservation is a troubled young woman, who is a veteran of the Iraq war. She is new at the job and if VERY rude and overbearing. She needs a mentor, and she find one in Walt Longmire. I took away one star from Story because the reveal of the killer was lame. There was no way that I could see that anything in the story led the listener to suspect him and the entire murder fell rather flat.

The good part is that Walt's daughter got married and Henry Standing Bear played a big role in the book, and the wedding. Another good part is the narration by Guidall. He is perfect. When he begins reading I feel so comfortable.
