Return to mediocre atter 2 excellent novels

The Dan Morgan series started with two mediocre novels followed by one excellent one and then one outstanding one. Arch Enemy is mediocre. This novel, like #4 in the series, is as much about Morgan's daughter Alex as him: that is a positive. The real problem with Arch Enemy is that it includes so much dead/boring time. 3 to 4 hours should be removed and it would be 4 or 5 stars.

We’re you feeling alright?

Very blurry plots and poorly organized. I trust this is a “one off” front the normally well-written thrillers.

Good addition to series

I wasn’t as interested in this book in the series as I was others. I found myself getting irritated with Alex’s “teenage-ness”-attitude etc annoying at times. It didn’t seem to fit with the action series this is. Overall it moves the storyline forward in the series. Unfortunately that means following along with a parent-teen relationship.

Really hard to follow

I felt rather confused right from the beginning of the book - like I just came in on the middle of a conversation between people I didn't know. There was no character development at all so I had no idea who the characters were. There seemed to be several different plot lines going on in parallel in the beginning that I hoped would converge at some point. Some of them did... Kind of. Others didn't seem to have relevance to the book at all.

Maybe I came in on the middle of a series and characters were developed in earlier books. But if that's the case, as far as I'm concerned each book should stand on its own. Generally I love action thrillers of this genre. But this one was not my cup of tea.

Hard to Follow

could not finish this book. The plots are two disjointed not enough interwoven. The narrator is excessively excited.

Old School - like 50’s/60’s

I respect and admire the writer’s life and experience. I read his first three books in this series. The story is good, but the writing style is toooooo old fashioned. I couldn’t take it any longer when the lead character called his wife a hussy. I don’t think my parents talk like that and they are in their 80’s. No one talks like that any longer and this isn’t a period piece. I wanted to listen, but I just can’t. Not sure about the age of narrator, but he has done well to get into character too. He sounds like he is 70+, but the lead character in the book is a guy in his 40’s. It just doesn’t work.
