Publisher's summary

World-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared into the chest of a murdered physicist. What he discovers is unimaginable: a deadly vendetta against the Catholic Church by a centuries-old underground organization, the Illuminati. Desperate to save the Vatican from a powerful time bomb, Langdon joins forces in Rome with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra. Together they embark on a frantic hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and the most secretive vault on earth, the long-forgotten Illuminati lair.

Two Out of Three

The first two parts of this book are terrific! The story moves at "break-neck" speed and is engrossing. The third part is really disappointing. The principle of "the willing suspense of disbelief" is stretched to its limits. The conclusion becomes obvious in the second part and in the third part, the main characters loose all credibility, going from being intelligent, resourceful protagonists to being stupid and helpless. It's worth buying because there is an enthralling book in Parts 1 and 2.

Slight misophonia trigger

Found the unedited swallows of the narrator slightly unnerving for some reason 😅 Maybe some of my misophonic friends might dislike.

Better than Da Vinci Code

If you enjoyed Brown's Da Vinci Code, then this book is a must.

A Lot of Fun!

Thoroughly enjoyable! Where does he come up with this stuff!?! If you like stories with lots of twists and turns, and lots of historical facts, you'll love this one. I think it might even be better than The Davinci Code which I couldn't put down. A terrific romp!

Very well narrated and an engraving story.

It was ok

The narrator was interesting to listen to, although there were a couple character "voices" that sounded similar. The story had its interesting even suspenseful moments, while other portions were a lame. I felt the weakest character was Robert Langdon. The strongest and most compelling character was Camerlengo Ventrasca.

Enjoyable

This book is fun. It's not great literature, but it's fun. It was a great way to pass time while laying on a beach or working out or driving to work. Some of it's a little hokey (ok, alot), but my disbelief was suspended. The biggest problem with this book on audio is that some of the plot points are visual and if you can't see them, you lose something. But, overall, I was entertained fully, and actually like this book over "The DaVinci Code". I give 4 stars because it did what it was suposed to do; entertain me in a fun and surprising way.

A Very Good, Unusual, and Exotic Mystery

I completely enjoyed this novel. The audiobook is also excellent. I read the book on Kindle while simultaneously listening. Although the audiobook is excellent, there are some symbols that I am very glad that I was able to see visually. A narrator cannot duplicate that part of the experience. But his was a very enjoyable audiobook. Thank You...

Great listen!

Would you listen to Angels and Demons again? Why?

No, but I never read books twice or watch movies twice!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the history and architecture and Roman setting. The narrarator was great at setting the mood. So suspenseful I found it hard to put down!
