Publisher's summary

An activist attorney is killed in a cute little L.A. trolley called Angels Flight, far from Harry Bosch's Hollywood turf. But the case is so explosive - and the dead man's enemies inside the L.A.P.D. are so numerous - that it falls to Harry to solve it. Now the streets are superheating. Harry's year-old Vegas marriage is unraveling. And the hunt for a killer is leading Harry to another high-profile L.A. murder case, one where every cop had a motive. The question is, did any have the guts?

Loved the Story, Performance--Not-So-Much

Connelly engages again, but I found myself having a more difficult time listening to the performance and wanting more to sit and read. I knew I had been spoiled by the first five books brought to us by Brilliance Productions and aptly "brilliantly" read performed by Dick Hill, but Mr. Giles' "performance" made it very difficult to discern one character's voice from another's when in conversation with another. It was very confusing. Mr. Hill also went as far as to use changes in his voice (sound effects, like talking into a tin can or muffling his voice) to indicate being at the other end of the phone or even a police radio--no such luxury with Mr. Giles. Mr. Giles' reading was simply a reading. Not particularly exciting. I would not go out of my way to seek him out as a narrator, but if he's all I've got for my future Harry Bosch series installments, well... (I'm hoping not.)

Angels Flight, Book Six in the series, definitely delivers all the grit, mystery, intrigue, frustration, and vindication, but there are just enough questions left unanswered or doors left open that you'll want to read further into the Hiernonymus Bosch series.

Great story with awful narration

I'm not sure what happened but this narrator struggled to understand how to perform all of Harry's dialogue. Everything was exaggerated and made it impossible to enjoy the story.

Connelly & Bosch continue to Entertain.

I am really enjoying the Bosch novels. Bosh is detailed and determined. He is stubborn and often egotistical. He is vulnerable and angry; hurt and lonely. A loner. He is deeply scarred and flawed. All of those things make him intriguing and complex and very likable.

The first few books were narrated by Dick Hill who is absolutely superb. Peter Giles cannot compete. However, while some of the other reviewers hated his narration, I cannot say the same. I am not sure why they hated it so much. I found the grit and gravel that he used to voice Bosch to be a really good choice. So, although I liked Hill's interpretation of Connelly's words better I also liked Giles.

Narrator

I love the book but didn’t care for the narrator. He was too dramatic. I really like when Titus Welliver narrates or Dick Hill.

Outstanding

This book more than met my expectations. Story line, twists and turns did justice to Connelly's very talented authorship. Good job.

Peter Giles is no Dick Hill

Still a great book, just makes it sound like your watching a movie with bad acting.

Good book

Didn't care for the narrator but the book was good. A twist at the end as usually.

Great book, difficult narration change

It is a great book. The new narrator is difficult. I was nearly half way through the book before I got used to it. He is no Dick Hill--- and the next several books mix up several narrators. I wish they would use ONE narrator, it makes it so much easier to listen to in a series like this. Other than the narrator change- it was a great book!
