Poorest Narration Ever

It was actually painful trying to listen to Burt Reynolds perform. It was so distracting that following and enjoying Michael Connelly's storyline was troublesome at best. Ugh! I really believe, with better narration, I may have rated the book five stars. It was so bad I feel like I was robbed of my investment in this book.

Classic Connelly, pity about the reader

A sound Connelly listen, his usual good pace, tension and plot. Unfortunately it was spoilt for me by Burt Reynolds's gruff reading. His voice sounds as though it has be ravaged by by decades of smoking. Frequently, particularly when he tries to read a woman's speech, he is reduced to a hoarse whisper. It's annoying and very distracting.

Not the best in the series

I love this series but this one did not follow the rest of the series. In the last book, Harry got married, but in this one there is absolutely no mention of his wife. I love Burt Reynolds, and he did a really good job on this, except the voice that he attributed to one of the cops sounded way too much like Dirty Harry.

There is a better choice...

Narrator should stick to acting

Excellent story, great plot but I did not like the narrator. he was very frustrating to listen to and it took until the middle of the book before he settled on one voice. The plot, on the other hand was it was a well written story.

Thoroughly Enjoyable

I got turned on to the Bosch novels by Echo Park. I listened to this one next as the earliest in the series that I could find. I was thoroughly pleased with my first purchase and I even found myself liking Burt Reynolds narration.

Horrible Performance...Painful!

Would you try another book from Michael Connelly and/or Burt Reynolds?

Burt Reynolds needs to hang it up. Whispering inaudibly and dentures whistling. Just atrocious!

Good Bosch story. But, if you ever have the chance to listen to a book read by Burt Reynolds, don't.

Very entertaining, I listen to the Bosch series while I work around the house and while I garden!!

Disappointed!

I have always been a fan of Burt Reynolds, but I am sorry to say, I won't buy another book narrates
By him. He is a lot better at irritating "Smokey". Narration is definitely not his best thing. I honestly can't judge th story...I am about half way through it and I doubt I will be able to finish it. Sad to say, it's THAT bad. 😢
