Publisher's summary

The childhood murder of Lydia Strong’s mother has turned her into a woman obsessed with bringing brutal killers to justice. The reclusive, best-selling true-crime writer and investigative consultant has made a life out of chasing monsters. And her powerful intuitions rarely fail her.

When three adults - loners, drifters - go missing, no one seems to notice except for Lydia. Enlisting the help of her friend, former FBI agent Jeffrey Mark, Lydia starts an investigation of her own. But when someone raises the stakes and goes after Lydia - just as 15 years ago when she put the FBI on the trail of her mother’s killer - the real hunt begins.

Narration is overly enunciated

I find that I am more put off by certain things in narration than I am by a mediocre story. This narration is overly enunciated to the point I almost quit listening a few times because it irritated me so much.

Couldn't get into it.

I bought this book because I listened to In the Blood, and loved it. This book did not hold my attention. I've quit listening for hours hoping that a book will get better. If it doesn't grab me in the first couple of chapters, forget it!

A bland experience

What disappointed you about Angel Fire?

This book could've been written by a teenage girl. The characters are uninteresting. The plot is simple.

Lost interest

Love this author’s Hallows series, but this book lost my interest almost immediately. Maybe it’s a bit too slow for my liking.

Don’t waste your time

Please don’t waste your time with this book. The writing and storyline are predictable with lines between the two main characters that will make you cringe.
