Editorial reviews

When Alison Kerby bought a huge Victorian house in the New Jersey town of Harbor Haven, she didn't know that it already contained two permanent residents: eccentric ghosts named Paul and Maxie. So Alison only had one choice. She turned the house into a haunted bed and breakfast for senior citizens looking for a "unique vacation experience". In this second Haunted Guesthouse Mystery, E. J. Copperman's witty and accessible heroine helps solve a murder case - with the help of her paranormal colleagues.

Amanda Ronconi is an experienced comedic performer, and this audiobook is right up her alley. The dialogue, ghostly hijinks, and offbeat escapades are all enhanced by her excellent pacing and varied voices.

Publisher's summary

Alison and her resident gumshoe ghost are on their next case when the deceased Scott MacFarlane floats in worried that he accidentally killed a prominent local woman. Turns out she's still alive...that is, of course, until she's murdered - in Alison's house. Now, between the demands of her guests and the arrival of a reality television crew, Alison must find the killer before she sees reality from the other side.

Such a fun series!

I am not always a fan of the snarky narrator, it often comes off really cheesy, but this is done perfectly. The narrator and the writing strike the right balance. Fun story with lots of interesting characters. A great follow up to the first!

Excellent Continuation of a Great Series.

If you could sum up An Uninvited Ghost in three words, what would they be?

Funny Ghostly Mystery. The story is hilarious. The interplay between Alison and the cop, Alison and her mother and daughter, and Alison and Maxi will have you in stitches. The mystery is real and the story has a surprise ending that I did not see coming.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, like all good mystery's this book gives you all the clues. It is well-paced with lots of suspects and little subplots. The ending is a surprise, but the clues were there all along.

Which scene was your favorite?

Maxi's birthday scene. The idea of celebrating a ghosts birthday humanizes the ghosts and is very well written. What do you get a ghost for her birthday? The answer was perfect.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

There's a Murderer in Your Guest House.

Any additional comments?

Fantastic second book to an excellent series. This book is very clean. No sex scenes or vulgarity. The f-bomb is replaced with the word "migraine." This is much more creative than using the actual word.

Fun

I listened out of order so need to go back to book 1, but this was thoroughly enjoyable on its own.

Fun, lighthearted listen

With so much negativity in the world, a lighthearted listen is almost a nerve pill. Enjoyed the fantasy and lightened my day. We’ve had so much rain lately that this made life inside more tolerable.

Good

This was book 2 in the "Haunted Guesthouse Mystery" Guesthouse Owner and new Private Investigator Alison tries to keep her house order in her first week of opening her dream guesthouse in New Jersey. She already has the support of her darling daughter Melissa and her Mother and e two resident ghosts with a house is filled with a Senior Plus tour-group whom are excited by the prospect of timed ghost encounters next a reality show group of 20-somethings that are known for their migraines and showing too much flesh finally she even invites a charming woman in her 80's that Ghost friend Paul wants to prove is still alive. This was a pretty good read it was funny with all the kooky weird characters. They also have a reality cast and crew that show up. This was a good read with a good narrator as I listened to this book on audio. I am looking forward to listening to the next book in this series.

Most Amusing Listen

Even better than book 2. I admit, I did not see the end coming. LMAO! Amanda Ronconi does her usual great job of narrating.

Love these books

I didn’t think I would like these books in the beginning, but I stuck it out and started listening to them, and I love them. Besides the mystery there’s a bit of humor in the books and I enjoy listening to them. Not just enjoy, I’m hooked.
