Called to tiny Doraville, North Carolina, Harper investigates the disappearance of several young boys. After finding them buried in a secluded wood, it becomes clear that a sadistic serial killer is stalking the town's children.

I know this might be bad to say but I think I might actually like Harper better than Sookie. I really hope that this series catches on as well as the Southern Vampires.
This story is truly gut wrenching and there will be times that it is truly upsetting but when you are dealing with serial killers it is the case. Young boys are disappearing and a law enforcement individual called on Harper to see if maybe she could find these boys. Many people are skeptical but this officer got Harpers name from some one who believes that she can help. And she does, and finds out such horrible things it's almost destroying her to keep going there are so many dead boys.
Harper and Tollover they make these stories strong.
She's great in the emotions and characters, especially the really evil ones, I was very surprised.
Serial killers at their worst.
Even thought this is a really tough story to get through, the bad guys are caught. But it was a very unnerving story from start to finish. Ms Harris knows how to keep you on edge to the end.
I love Charlaine Harris' series, and loved listening to this thriller as an audio book. The reader kept me entranced, and I felt I was right in the midst of the book (a first for an audio book for me). I would definitely recommend this book to others.
This is a great story full of thriller.....shocking events that make u go "wow"!!!! I can't wait for the next book...don't stop the Harper Books!!!... You r an amazing Author!!!Jeni
She brings the characters to life.
I have read Harper Connelly mysteries 1-3, and this one was my favorite. The suspense was great, I kept looking for excuses to sit in my car and listen to it!
Likes: Cozy mysteries (cats a plus), personal memoirs, not too dark fantasy, books about the brain. Dislikes: Torture, animal cruelty.
An Ice Cold Grave is the 3rd of the 4 Harper Connolly mysteries. This one is a departure from the others because all of a sudden we have nasty gory details about some really awful murders and explicit sex, made extra icky by it (the sex not the murders) being between Harper and her step brother (now boyfriend) Tolliver. Plus, I don't think this author has a knack for sex scenes and cringe worthy scenes are even worse when listening to someone read them aloud. Still, I enjoyed the book I guess because I've followed the characters this long and the story held my attention, and I was disappointed when I discovered that the series would be all wrapped up in the 4th book. Seemed kind of a waste to create these characters for 4 measly books.
Author. Audiobook lover. UberGeek.
for the third in the series I hoped that Harper would grow as a character. the mystery in this novel was at least compelling, but the series is more about Harper and her life and this is what drags the story down. I can't continue with a series where I find the main character so unbelievable stupid that the rest of the story becomes background, while I rant at the main character.
I'm sad to say this will be the last Harper Connelly story I'll be reading.
I like the story. I felt that it could have been solved sooner but overall it was good. Harper is no Lily Bard, but she is likeable even with the plot twist in her character.
This was even better than the other Charlaine Harris series. Well read. Next book in the series is due in October, I am very ready. I buy almost nothing in hardcover, but this series is worth it. Just a super listen, too. The characters are believable even if you wonder about their special abilities. The voice is smooth and certain, Good read. Solid plot.
I enjoyed the first book and loved this one. Great plot, believable character, excellent reader and nice twists and turns. Am looking for the next one right now.
