Publisher's summary

“Like all the best suspense novels, Alone will leave you shaken...You can't wait to see what happens next.” (People)

Who can you turn to when you’re at your most vulnerable?

State Trooper Bobby Dodge watches a tense hostage standoff through the scope of his sniper rifle. Dodge has only one second to react, or a woman and her child may die.

Where can you hide when this killer comes?

The woman at the other end of Bobby Dodge’s rifle isn’t only in trouble - she is trouble. Cool, beautiful, and dangerously sexy, Catherine Rose Gagnon’s life will change in an instant of violence.

It’s the most terrifying place to be...When Bobby pulls the trigger, someone will die. And then no one will be above suspicion, no one beyond harm.

And no one will see death coming until it has them cornered, helpless, and alone.

Get me out of here!

The reader is so boring!! So much do I couldn’t even get into the story. That is why I gave the story three stars. It wouldn’t be fair to rate a story that still had 9 1/2 hrs to go.

Love the DD Warren Series

I am glad that I stumbled upon this DD Warren series. I absolutely love Bobby Dodge and in a weird way he reminds me of Harry Bosch (Those books were written by Michael Connelly)

Nothing is predictable and the story is entertaining. It is one of those books (series) where you actually think about the plot and characters after you finish the book.

Wonderful writing, poor narration.

Much like anything from this author, the story is amazing, I loved reading the hard copy. However this narrator made the book hard to get through.

More romance than mystery

When I purchased the title, I thought it was a mystery. However, it was part romance part mystery and I found myself cringing on hearing some of the bad writing and breathless narration.

Love all of Lisa Gardner's books

Every time I listen to Lisa Gardner books, I can't wait to read the next. I like how the characters and story lines are some what linked to eachother.

Alone does not disappoint

Another great Lisa Garner book!

When officer Bobby Dodge, a sniper with the elite STOP team, is called out to a domestic with shots fired, one bullet will change the trajectory of his life.

This fast-paced, twisted tale takes the reader unknowingly into the dark minds of a conniving widow, whose son's mysterious illness casts doubt on her as a mother; a pedophile, whose unexpected release from prison coincides with several savage murders; and a judge who would do anything to get what he wants - and what he wants is to cover up his own sorted beginnings. And following the one shot, all of these people become intertwined in Officer Dodge's desperate need to find answers in order to save himself and his career.

Oooh, the plot is rich with characters and sub-characters that each need the other in order that their scheme plays out the way they want. And just when it all wraps up, a red herring is found to have been at play.

Alone is a whodunit type of thriller that will not disappoint. I look forward to the next in the series.

Great story, annoying characterizations.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No, the voice actor did such a horrible job personifying characters that I couldn't wait for the recording to be over. I contemplated just reading it, but since I had already purchased the audio book, I just kept going with it.

What did you like best about this story?

The story was great and is very necessary to read the follow up "HIDE." Great plot twists.

How could the performance have been better?

The performer made Bobby Dodge sound like 65 year old moron from South Boston. I understand that she was trying to lay on the Boston accent thick, but it came along with making him sound like a big dumb oaf throughout, and having read other Lisa Gardner books, I know that this was not the intention for Bobby Dodge. She also made D.D. sound much too prissy compared to every other audiobook performer I have heard. I am so glad that they changed performers in the other books.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes
