Getting better, definitely worth the listen.

Any additional comments?

This series has all the hope of being the closest thing to a fix for Mitch Rapp junkies. I have listened to all of the Jack Reacher, Dewey Andreas, and Scot Harvath books, and this has the best hope for being a great new series that is updated regularly. The early recordings are pieced together and there are plot holes, but they get cleaned up as the series progresses. This is definitely worth your time, and know that they get cleaner by the time you hit book 3-4.

Editing makes a difference

I liked the story and the characters but the editing made it hard to fully enjoy. I prefer audiobooks in which the chapters have a long pause at the end, as this book has. But, this was the first book I have ever listened to that made it very clear where the reader stopped for a break or the day and resumed and where re-takes were made and edited in. Both the volume and tone of the reader would change abruptly and annoyingly for either, OFTEN.

Outstanding espionage thriller!

All Necessary force is Book 2 of ex Delta Force commander Brad Taylor's Pike Logan series. The series is now 7 novels and 5 novellas. This novel is a great espionage thriller dealing with fighting terrorists in Asia, the Middle East and the US. One Rough Man, Book 1, showed real promise, novella 1.5 fixed narration issues and added Jennifer Cahill as a lead character, and All Necessary Force delivers on the promise of Brad Taylor being a great espionage thriller author.

Beginning with All Necessary Force the novels in the series use an unusual but very effective narration arrangement. The novel is written partially in third person with Henry Strozier narrating and partially in Pike Logan first person with Rich Orlow doing the narration. The narration is flawless.

For those who like great espionage novels this novel and the Pike Logan series provide just that, and the series does so consistently. Very highly recommended.

A bit of a let down from the first book

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I wanted to strangle Jennifer. Some of her reactions, given the situation and line of work, is completely off the mark. She trains for a year as an operative, and gets upset when too much violence is used on a terrorist? Seriously . . . While there are rules and ways to do things, she is just too emotional.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Ted Bell and Alex Hawk

Would you be willing to try another one of Henry Strozier and Rich Orlow ’s performances?

No - The original duo was much better.

Was All Necessary Force worth the listening time?

No

Love Logan, Taylor is a presumptuous ass.

LOVE the book except the Jennifer character who is supposed to tell us imbeciles the difference between right and wrong--because she is female and knows these things. I just was confused by the character's seeming hypocrisy, and this overall trend of having "strong women" in non-traditional roles but still playing mommy/the voice of reason/the moral compass. I wrote Taylor and asked him if Jennifer eventually becomes less of this. Evidently he thought I was mad she wasn't a "blood thirsty killer." Yup. Those are his words. So: Since I'd sooner douche with Drano than give this man another dime, let me be clear: GREAT writing, great plotting, intricate knowledge of topics, 90% great characters. My review of his work is mostly very positive. My review of Taylor? Just don't question his choices...he gets mean.

Great Story, Bad Narration.

Really enjoyed the storyline, but the narration leaves a lot to be desired. George Guidall or Amanda Shultz would have done a much better job.

Don't waste your credits

Thought this series would be like Mitch Rapp series but it’s SO NOT! I’ve listen to Book 1 and 2 – it’s not even interesting until the last 5 chapters.
In this book I was on chapter 32 and was wishing I was on 82. Not for me – I feel bad I don’t like writing negative reviews but this book was so boring!
No more Pike Logan books for me!

Improving...

The first book's narration issue that made for a difficult listen is much improved in this installment. That doesn't necessarily mean the book is better. There are still some issues. One is POV. It switches from third to first in a most illogical way, and the dialogue is abysmally bad at certain points. Also, there is another issue of swearing as filler. It's like a bad movie so often. When there's not anything the author feels work saying, he inserts the F-word. Not good form. It just feels unnecessary. But as the series is on book 14, I'm going to assume it continues to improve. So that's a good thing. The narrators worked here.

"It's okay"

I enjoyed the first book, which I read the old-fashioned way, but this audio version of book two didn't do it for me The story was just okay, there was a lot of "If Pike does this one more time, he's out!" followed by "If Pike continues to do this, he's gone!" you get the picture. The performer who narrated Pike Logan's part just didn't capture how I pictured the character. The editing was interesting, in that you can tell where parts were re-recorded pretty clearly. It wasn't exactly annoying, but it seemed a little low budget. I won't give up on the series yet, but the next version really has to "wow" me..

Solid spec ops story/ NARRATION IS AN ABORTION

You seriously can’t find better narrators? How about actually giving Jennifer a feminine voice? Please stop making Pike sound like a complete fucking tool.
