Publisher's summary

If Alex Cross stops running, he will die...three serial killers are on the loose, and they want revenge.

Detective Alex Cross arrests renowned plastic surgeon Elijah Creem for sleeping with teenage girls. Now, his life ruined, Creem is out of jail, and he's made sure that no one will recognize him - by giving himself a new face.

A young woman is found hanging from a sixth-floor window, and Alex is called to the scene. The victim recently gave birth, but the baby is nowhere to be found. Before Alex can begin searching for the missing newborn and killer, he's called to investigate a second crime. All of Washington, D.C., is in a panic, and when a third body is discovered, rumors of three serial killers send the city into an all-out frenzy.

Alex's investigations are going nowhere, and he's too focused on the cases to notice that someone has been watching him - and will stop at nothing until he's dead. With white-hot speed, relentless drama, and hairpin turns, Alex Cross, Run is James Patterson's ultimate thrill ride.

Critic reviews

"In true Patterson fashion, the story includes every element a good cop tale needs: shootouts, car chases, mysterious characters, and bad guys galore." (John M. Wills, author, former Chicago police officer, and retired FBI agent)

"The Cross family will never be the same! Cross Fire will leave you turning page after page with endless suspense." (Beyond the Bookshelf)

"Lives are lost, people Alex loves are in serious danger, and everyone is afraid that they're going to be next on the sniper's list. This is another great and addicting tale of murder and mayhem - Alex Cross style! I was hard pressed to put it down!" (Bibliophilic Book Blog)

Ugh!

James Patterson has parlayed what used to be a great reputation as a good mystery writer into an industry to generate money based on his name. His legacy will be that of a writer who created a business based on a talent that never came to bloom. What a shame. I will not buy another one of his books because they are a watered down waste of time. His latest novels sound like they were written by college or high school students who have not yet learned their craft.

Patterson and Cross Score Another Killer Hit

Not all installments in the Alex Cross series are created equal. 'Alex Cross, Run' ranks as one of the very best, in my book. The fine old story formula is here, well executed, involving clever, creative bad guys, and involving the Cross family in just the right amounts. A great performance by Boatman and Boyer, too. All in all, a very nice recovery from the horrendous movie experience with nonactor crossdresser Tyler Perry last year.

Excellent book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I really enjoyed all of the Alex cross books this one was very emotional to me. I don't think you will be disappointed by buying this book or listening to it either.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Alex Cross, Run?

When John came to the door with the locket to tell Alex they found Ava.

What does Michael Boatman and Steven Boyer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like hearing the different characters tell the the two parts of the story it's easier to follow along.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes the part about the foster child Ava and her drug problems because that touches our 14 year olds today.

Any additional comments?

This is a must purchase!!!!

Finally a book without stacks of F bombs!

What did you love best about Alex Cross, Run?

It definitely kept my attention, holding my breath as he was being set up by the bad guy with a grudge.

What did you like best about this story?

The good people resolution.
The inclusion of softer feelings, morals
along with the contrasting very, very bad people.

Have you listened to any of Michael Boatman and Steven Boyer ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

NA

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I couldn't but I kept it on much longer than I should.

Any additional comments?

I'm just grateful to find an author who can leave out the F bombs which are very degrading to me as the listener. I realize that this would be included in people' regular on the job speech, but I'm glad someone doesn't use it.

Ho Hum................

The story moved along at a good pace, but I felt as though Patterson thought the more plots, sub plots and another plot he could shove into one story the better it would be. There is no thought process, just a typical crime - good guy get the bad guy. This is about as basic as you can get and proof that money means more than a well written book and that James will continue to crank these out like eggs in a chicken factory. It will be a long while before I buy another Patterson book.

What happend to James Patterson

What did you like best about Alex Cross, Run? What did you like least?

It is boring and a two year old can figure out the plot. No surprise!

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I do like the Alex Cross character.

Would you be willing to try another one of Michael Boatman and Steven Boyer ’s performances?

No not really

Could you see Alex Cross, Run being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

yes but it would be quite dull.

Any additional comments?

James Patterson needs to put more plot and twist to his books of late. He is getting very dull very fast.

Another solid Alex Cross story

I think I've read all of the books in the Alex Cross series and this 20th book in the series didn't disappoint. Fast moving, held my interest and enhanced my daily commute. Not a blockbuster, and not as good as some of the previous books in the series but still a good solid listen. If you haven't read anything else in the series, I recommend you start at the beginning with Along Came a Spider.

I found this book uncomfortable and negative and not a clever plot. I would never recommend it.

Same ol same ol....To James, take a Trip To refresh and get a new perspective

I am very disappointed in this book. It is almost unbearable. I am half way through it. Like watching grass grow. Again the several subplots. Multiple readers just ok. Tired of Nana being a strong, hardworking, angry, wise know-it-all, 90 year old woman. Personal family issues, especially with the children add nothing new. Tired of Alex being a victim or target of the homicidal sicko and another clever, well educated, sadist criminal who kidnap young women and cuts/stabs them to death. The duel criminals are tiring. The senseless (do any make sense) killings and the static investigations of the DC police. The only reason I plan to finish listening is that I need the distraction and background noise as I clean up after the holidays. I am a long time Cross and Patterson fan. Not sure what is the problem. Narration is okay, I've adjusted to the change of readers for Alex. Seems as though Patterson is writing for a screen-play or another movie. Stories in this series follow the same plot pattern, nothing exciting or too different. I can predict the end. Would I read this again? Seems like I have done so already.
