Publisher's summary

If Alex Cross stops running, he will die...three serial killers are on the loose, and they want revenge.

Detective Alex Cross arrests renowned plastic surgeon Elijah Creem for sleeping with teenage girls. Now, his life ruined, Creem is out of jail, and he's made sure that no one will recognize him - by giving himself a new face.

A young woman is found hanging from a sixth-floor window, and Alex is called to the scene. The victim recently gave birth, but the baby is nowhere to be found. Before Alex can begin searching for the missing newborn and killer, he's called to investigate a second crime. All of Washington, D.C., is in a panic, and when a third body is discovered, rumors of three serial killers send the city into an all-out frenzy.

Alex's investigations are going nowhere, and he's too focused on the cases to notice that someone has been watching him - and will stop at nothing until he's dead. With white-hot speed, relentless drama, and hairpin turns, Alex Cross, Run is James Patterson's ultimate thrill ride.

Critic reviews

"In true Patterson fashion, the story includes every element a good cop tale needs: shootouts, car chases, mysterious characters, and bad guys galore." (John M. Wills, author, former Chicago police officer, and retired FBI agent)

"The Cross family will never be the same! Cross Fire will leave you turning page after page with endless suspense." (Beyond the Bookshelf)

"Lives are lost, people Alex loves are in serious danger, and everyone is afraid that they're going to be next on the sniper's list. This is another great and addicting tale of murder and mayhem - Alex Cross style! I was hard pressed to put it down!" (Bibliophilic Book Blog)

For James Patterson fans, yes. It's what such fans (like me) have come to expect, so delivers the goods, even though it's not great.

Would you be willing to try another book from James Patterson? Why or why not?

Of course. With James Patterson you can't stop at one, even though you occasionally need to hold your nose in doing so.

What about Michael Boatman and Steven Boyer ’s performance did you like?

Yes, he has a good voice for Alex and reads it really well.

Another Alex Cross Great

I loved this story. The plot was robust and the characters were Well developed. Although, I have read the next novel, Hope to Die and was left to deduce that Ava who was murdered in this story, yet reappears in the next was never killed at all. I admittedly read the stories out of order, so didn't realize until the end of Run that Ava's whereabouts wasn't fully developed in Hope to Die, after whoever was burned beyond recognition leaving the reader to believe she'd been murdered in this prequel.

always good

I always enjoy Patterson's books. Most of them have me on the edge of my seat. However, I was disappointed that Ava wasn't still alive. The burnt body should have been a decoy.

Spoiler Alert-Oh Alex

I hated the way Judeis made Alex look, he played him. He honestly got the best of him, and Alex is so much better than he was portrayed in this book. Alex is normally level-headed and more self-controlled. He fell for every single piece of bait Judeis gave him. Also, once the lawyer told Alex there was nothing he could do because of Freedom of the Press, he should have file a restraining order. Freedom of the Press doesn’t mean you get to harass people. Also, when is Alex going to get an alarm, and protect his family better. How can people constantly go in and out of his house, leaving bugs and videos to spy on them and see everything they do?! I just think it’s unrealistic for Alex to be constantly singled out by crazies and not taking extra precautions for his family. Alex is super intelligent but not protecting his family more makes him look irresponsible and flighty. Especially after what happened to Christine (yes,I will bring up Christine every chance I get LOL). Alex should have discovered the bugs in the house. Why did he think Judeis was out there, near him home, just waiting for him with a gun and shooting him? He had to know that wasn’t a coincidence. I know Alex is tough but sensitive and all but need him to cry a little less. Geez! This is my second time around reading this series so of course I love it. Though I’m noticing more this time around that I don’t necessarily like, I still love Alex and the entire series!

Narrator is excellent!
