Publisher's summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Brad Thor delivers his most frightening and pulse-pounding thriller ever!

After a CIA agent mysteriously dies overseas, his top asset surfaces with a startling and terrifying claim. There’s just one problem - no one knows if she can be trusted.

But when six exchange students go missing, two airplane passengers trade places, and one political-asylum seeker is arrested, a deadly chain of events is set in motion.

With the United States facing an imminent and devastating attack, America's new president must turn to covert counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath to help carry out two of the most dangerous operations in the country’s history.

Code-named "Gold Dust" and "Blackbird", they are shrouded in absolute secrecy as either of them, if discovered, will constitute an act of war.

Enjoyed the book but significant plot holes

Enjoyed this book like all Brad Thor books but there were some major plots holes such as why was there no police drag net for Chung in his SUV, what was the purpose of the North Korean operation etc

Brad Thor developing into a great writer

What made the experience of listening to Act of War the most enjoyable?

Scott Harvath is a better than average character but no Mitch Rapp. However, the last 4 or 5 books of Brad's have been a lot better than the early books which were good reads.

What other book might you compare Act of War to and why?

Vince Flynn...

What does Armand Schultz bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Keeps me involved...if I read the book it would take longer because reading puts me to sleep.

Best of the series

I have read the entire series and can't wait until June to hear the next one. After being more than halfway through and no Victor and the dogs I was getting disappointed but then they arrived.

it's Ok

I usually really enjoy books in this series, but this book just could not keep my attention for some reason. I struggle to gather the motivation to listen and finish the book. usually I can finish one of these books in less than a week, but this one took me several weeks. I'm not saying the book was bad. There were plenty of times where I enjoyed the book but overall I would say it was sub - par for this series

...Thor's Scot Harvath #14

America's new president must turns to covert counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath to help carry out two of the most dangerous operations in the country's history. Brad Thor is a master at telling 'action-thriller' stories. The Scot Harvath character is what I call a "cool bad ass"...he's not a jerk, but he isn't a 'softie' either. Thor's writing is top-notch and the story-line was really good. A definite listen in my opinion...
