Publisher's summary

It's a gorgeous autumn day in Georgetown. The Democratic candidates for president and vice-president of the United States are dutifully glad-handing voters and the media outside a grand estate where a national-security conference has just been held, bringing together the world's greatest minds to discuss the issues that are threatening the country. It's American politicking at its best. That's when all hell breaks loose.

When presidential candidate Josh Alexander's motorcade is ambushed by a group of terrorists, the nation is thrown into turmoil. Two weeks following the attack, Alexander is carried to victory by a sympathy vote, but his assailants have not been found. On the surface, it appears to be the work of al-Qaeda, and soon the FBI and the rest of the government begin scouring the world for jihadists. But then CIA Director Irene Kennedy and Special Agent Skip McMahon are presented with classified information so toxic that they consider destroying it altogether, as it contains intelligence pointing to some of the most powerful players in Washington.

Enter Mitch Rapp, the one man reckless enough to follow the evidence to its explosive conclusion. His journey takes him through the shadowy world of contract killers, into the darkest corners of the globe, and eventually back to Washington, where the fragile pillars of power are shaken to the core.

Don't miss more thrillers by Vince Flynn.

Great Sequel!!

I left the last book with some unresolved anger. I’m so glad that this book continued along!! Great new character development. I hope a couple of them get to stay. The last two books are by far the best in the series since Stan Hurley!

another good one

not as much action as other books, but still enough to pull you in. Mitch Rapp has still got it.

Excellent

The story is good and the narrator, George Guidall, is excellent. A great combination for the listener.

Perfect for our times

This is a great listen and shows the greed, cunning, and no limits of politics.

Absolute Power Creates Absolute Corruption

I am very late to the Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp ongoing saga but catching up fairly quickly on Audible. George Guidall continues to do a very credible job with the narration and the storytelling is first class from book to book. The thing I really enjoy about Vince Flynn's writing is he takes a very down the middle, non-biased approach to political wrongdoing. Unfortunately, most of today's writers have more of a liberal bias and the political evil doers are almost always Republican or right wing zealots. Flynn takes no prisoners whether the corruption is coming from the left or the right, making his works especially refreshing.

For this novel, Rapp becomes involved in political corruption and wrongdoing at the very top of the political spectrum. As the outgoing Democratic President is stepping down due to Parkinson's disease, the newly elected President and VP to be are caught up in what appears to be a terrorist assassination on the new administration. In reality, the real culprits are very much home grown power brokers who seize an opportunity to insure the election is won by the Democratic candidates. As you would expect, Mitch Rapp is on the case and will not rest until the real reason for the attempt is unraveled and his own brand of justice is employed.

This is an excellent listen from start to finish with Mitch Rapp fast becoming my favorite fictional character. Sadly, as I am late starter to the series, I only recently discovered that Mr. Flynn is no longer with us. I have a few more Flynn written novels to listen to before his replacement takes over. God Bless Vince Flynn's family and I truly hope his replacement will continue in the same solid Rapp tradition that Mr. Flynn created.
