Publisher's summary

We predict amazing success for this brand-new mystery series starring Psychic Abby Cooper.

Abby Cooper is a P.I., psychic intuitive. But her insight failed her when she didn't foresee the death of one of her clients - or that the lead investigator for the case is the gorgeous blind date she just met. Now, with the police suspicious of her abilities and a killer on the loose, Abby's future looks more uncertain than ever.

Caught Red Handed

Abby Cooper,in her office with the Arch Angel Michael statue.Only after catching a killer with the baseball bat, knife and shovel,in the house and yard, etc. You couldn't pay enough to have her job.Poor Abby's"other worldly "gift, tends to get her in more trouble than she can handle by herself.Luckily for her she's got her handsome back up Dutch and her energizer, organizer sister Kat,to keep her on track.Loved the story, funny, engaging and thrilling. The narrator did an excellent job with narration.I look forward to listening to the next book in the series.

Good mystery series

At first I thought how the heck am I going to find a psychic realistic especially one as good as Abby. But then I thought of all the vampire, werewolf and ghost hunter books I've listened to and I thought why not try. I find it a funny and entertaining series. I really like this chick lit mystery.

Okay, but...

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator did their best with a book that was just acceptable and no more.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Nothing to keep my interest, just kept waiting for an average book to become a good book.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

You can only do what you can do with the material you are given.

Could you see Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No.

Interesting story

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The beginning was a bit slow. It took me a while to really sink into the story, but after about a third way in, it got pretty interesting.

Interesting premise, sloppy writing

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I tried so hard to like this book, but I have trouble respecting an author who is just plain sloppy. Without giving anything away, here are some examples of some things the author did that made me throw my hands up in the air and scream, "REALLY??"

The main character gets a phone call from a woman, and the conversation ends. She wishes she could speak to the woman again, but she doesn't have the woman's phone number. Okay, I thought, maybe this book was written before Caller ID was common. So I accepted it and moved on. About four chapters later, the same woman gets a creepy phone call, and the caller hangs up. So the woman dials *69 to trace the call. What the heck?? NOW she has this feature? Two days later? She didn't know how to do this before and now "suddenly" does? Just sloppy. How could her editor not catch this?

And then, not once, not twice, but THREE times, this same woman, who, by the way is a PSYCHIC for a living, does this "classic" (not) stupid move where someone calls and pisses her off, she hangs up, the phone rings three seconds later and she picks it up answering as if it's the same person again, saying, "Listen, I thought I told you to leave me alone, you jerk --" except it's her sister calling.

Seriously, who answers the phone as if they know who it is when they do NOT have caller ID? And she is psychic, but can't tell who's calling? Yet she can tell if someone is alive or dead by seeing their photo on TV? I'm sorry, but this is just annoying, and I have no sympathy for this kind of stupid plot device. It just makes me feel like the main character is stupid. Stop making assumptions about who is calling, or buy caller ID. This book was published in 2004, for God's sake, and unless it was written in 1994 and took her 10 years to find a publisher, there is no excuse for this kind of goofy writing. I like consistency in a writer. If you're going to use a plot device like *69 for once phone call, then don't conveniently not realize you have it on another day.

Great start to a fun series - I want more

I was having a tough week, and this was exactly the book I needed as an escape. Abby Cooper is a really fun character and Elizabeth Michaels captures her perfectly with her narration. Abby is far from perfect and sometimes the things she does are just plain frustrating. She is quick to jump to the wrong conclusions and that often complicates her life. I found myself wanting to reach into my media player to give Abby a good slap in the hopes of knocking some sense into her, then I remembered that I was listening to a book and found myself back in the real world.

The great thing about Ms. Laurie's writing style is her ability to transport you into the world of Abbey Cooper. I found myself willingly suspending my disbelief and fully engrossed in the storyline. I could not stop listening and wanted to hear what would happen next. Ms Laurie's writing style keeps things moving at a good pace and is highly engaging. I kept finding myself extending my listening session by just a few more minutes. My only regret was that I was so drawn in that by the end of the weekend I had reached the conclusion. Looking forward to the next one!

Accept Premise, Then Enjoy

Psychic? Really? Had to wade through the beginning & then just accepted the premise & enjoyed the book. Not rocket science, but fun to listen to. Will probably listen to other books in this series just for fun.

Well Done!

This was recommended to me years ago. My library didn't have it, and neither did the Michigan Electronic Library. But Audible had it! I will be listening to the rest as well.
