Publisher's summary

A masterpiece of suspense from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Child

Four people in a car, hoping to make Chicago by morning. One man driving, eyes on the road. Another man next to him, telling stories that don’t add up. A woman in the back, silent and worried. And next to her, a huge man with a broken nose, hitching a ride east to Virginia.

An hour behind them, a man lies stabbed to death in an old pumping station. He was seen going in with two others, but he never came out. He has been executed, the knife work professional, the killers vanished. Within minutes, the police are notified. Within hours, the FBI descends, laying claim to the victim without ever saying who he was or why he was there.

All Reacher wanted was a ride to Virginia. All he did was stick out his thumb. But he soon discovers he has hitched more than a ride. He has tied himself to a massive conspiracy that makes him a threat—to both sides at once.

In Lee Child’s white-hot thriller, nothing is what it seems, and nobody is telling the truth. As the tension rises, the twists come fast and furious, keeping readers guessing and gasping until the explosive finale.

Not Lee Child's best!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Reacher's broken nose? What was that all about, we never get to know how he broke his nose. There was no value in this, it only gave purpose to Dick Hill's nasal voice interpretation that became increasingly annoying as the story droned on.

Would you recommend A Wanted Man to your friends? Why or why not?

If you had never read one of Child's Reacher books before, you might like this one. However, if you are a "Reacher Afficiando". you will likely be disapointed with this book

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

It was a disappointing narration by an otherwise good reader.

Could you see A Wanted Man being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, the plot was too convaluted to condense into a 90 minute movie

Any additional comments?

I will continue to buy Child's Reach stories even though this one was not his best.

Reachers "Sex Therapy" seems to have kicked in:)

Reacher's back and so is Lee Childs! He seemed to have phoned in his last works, however has redeemed himself with this. Fast paced. Edgy. Witty banter. Quality from start to finish. A read you will want to listened to straight through. .... still can't visualize Tom Cruise playing Reacher on film... it's hoped that deal has faded away.... But I digress... fun Reacher story. Enjoy!

Good old Jack Reacher

What made the experience of listening to A Wanted Man the most enjoyable?

The latest Jack Reacher. Sure they're all more or less the same - but yet different enough to keep coming back. The Reacher books are all three day reads or less. I read all 18 of them using Whisper - reading half and listen to half on my commute. They are absolute fun!

Jack Reacher is an impelling character.

Would you consider the audio edition of A Wanted Man to be better than the print version?

Did not read the book. The audio let you know about his nose. Reading the book you would miss some of those details.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jack Reacher. Always the best.

Which scene was your favorite?

Approaching the hidden building.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Another thriller by Jack Reacher.

Any additional comments?

Tom Cruise should not be Jack. He is too short, and does not fit the image I have of Jack.

Solid, classic Reacher.

This is a very standard Jack Reacher story with the typical twists and turns and ancillary societal subplots. I noticed a few technical mistakes, but they don't detract from the enjoyment.

ANOTHER HIT FOR LEE CHILD!

If you could sum up A Wanted Man in three words, what would they be?

JACK "NONE" REACHER!

What did you like best about this story?

IT IS A JACK REACHER STORY, I HAVE READ OR LISTENED TO THEM ALL AND CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT AUDIO BOOK READ BY DICK HILL.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I REALLY LIKE LEE CHILD BOOKS, ESPECIALLY HIS CHARACTER, JACK REACHER.

Book after book in this series gets better

I have read or listened to every single book in this series. Once again, Lee Child continues the story of Jack Reacher. I love these books. Certainly, if you've been reading any of the previous 16 books about Reacher (I can't believe there have been that many), you'll love this one, too.

I heard that Tom Cruise is playing Jack Reacher in an upcoming movie. Ridiculous. I have my image of Jack Reacher and he sure as he__ isn't anything like Cruise.

And what can you say about Dick Hill - he is the voice of these books. If he ever stops narrating them, I'll go back to the printed page, but if he narrates, I prefer him reading/telling/being the story.
