Mystery solving couple

This book really showed what Abby could do as a psychic I think. Haunted house and the subsequent mystery solving were very interesting and fun. It was also the first time that Dutch and Abby finally started to work together as a romantic couple as well as a mystery solving couple.

I would be reading more from this series in the future.

Oh and the reader is very good too!

Great Series

I am really enjoying this series. The psychic aspect is believable and makes for a new and different mystery. the characters are fun and the narration is good. Plan to work my way through the series.

Too painful to finish

I usually don't review the books I didn't finish. However, I must this time, because this reader absolutely ruined the book. When I read the first book in the series I thought -okay, reader sucks but the story is not too bad. Romance was kind of looking to be hot and mistery was all right. Then I bought the second book. Reader was even worse this time. You would think that people get better with practice, right? Wrong! I couldn't tell voices apart even when she read male parts, or should I say especially when she read male parts. To make things worse, the couple is dating for months without consuming their relationship. Ph-leese. They are in their twenties, the guy is extra hot FBI agent. I don't know why I got the third book. If I drank, I would think I was wasted. Maybe I ate something bad. Some mushrooms that got mixed with my salad and made me halucinate that this was actually worth a credit. Maybe I just wanted to see if the poor guy is finally going to get laid. After fifteen minutes of torture, I gave up. I suggest you give up too, before the torture starts.

Just okay for me

Any additional comments?

I really like this series, but not crazy about the voice of Elizabeth Michaels. I would have given the story more stars if I hadn't been able to figure out the plot so soon in the book. (Generally my benchmark for movies, too.) IMO, it wouldn't take a seasoned psychic so long to figure things out, since I did so quickly. Still, it had some good writing and a historical connection that I liked so it's a keeper. Also, I liked the link-up with M.J. from the Ghost Hunters series.

Cozy mystery that you can easily solve

This narrator speak so slowly that I listen at 1.25 speed to avoid getting annoyed at the long pauses. half way through the story they start playing really awful music at the beginning of the chapters too. There are better storylines in psychic eye series. Good for a distraction.

Fun story line

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy this series of books and love the outlook on life and daily interactions. Some books have too many details and tend to lose you in the story, but V. Laurie provides just enough detail for you to picture the scene in your mind yet not lose you in all the details. Can't wait to read/listen to more.

Characterless

The narration spoiled this for me - sounded like a prissy librarian reading the words off the page. Once I got beyond the sort of characterless reading, the story was rather banal and unrealistic - with her "spidey sense" and intuition the heroine was really beyond silly to do what she did when she did it. I listened to it all - more because I was on a long walk and couldn't be bothered to change books than the plot which was obvious to blind Freddie from the off.

What happened to Abby???

Would you try another book from Victoria Laurie and/or Elizabeth Michaels?

I will try the next one. If that doesn't work, I'll move on.

Has A Vision of Murder turned you off from other books in this genre?

No.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Yes. Doesn't do well with voice differentiation or high emotion.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger. This book intended on focusing on Abby and Dutch's relationship with which the author obviously had no writing experience. If this were the first book, it never would have been published. Abby was a flat out ignorant beyotch. There was no connection between her and Dutch and I couldn't understand what he saw in her. She repeatedly threw common sense out the door and had major attitude when her stupidity was pointed out to her. How can someone who's supposed to be intuitive lack so much common sense. Dave was such a nice guy and Abby totally messed him over. I'll listen to the next book but if she doesn't get a clue I'll dump this series and move on. The narrator was great but given the material, it didn't matter.

Sorry I wasted my credits

I listened to the first book in the series, thought it was light and fun, so I got the second, enjoyed it half way through and bought three and four, by the time I was on the second half of the second book I was soooo bored, almost done the third one (and listening as background noise by now) I am sorry I rushed to buy the fourth. Here we are, Abby and Dutch have known eachother for how long? and they still have not had sex. Absurd, and everywhere she turns she finds trouble. This is beyond boring, I recommend you use your credits elsewhere.
